Actually Hillary prevailed in most of the key states. What I donl;t understand is why people have so much faith and wonder for Obama and/or for the democratic party. Obama did essentuially come out of nowhere. That's what I wonder about. This is America, nobody comes out of nowhere in America unless there is a huge amount of money behind them. That equates to people in high places who can pull strings.
Policywise I am not impressed with Obama. He strikes me as a strong political opportunist who, much like the Clintons, spits on his finger, holds it up to test the direction the wind is coming from. I fail to see anywhere in his rhetoric anyhthing that equates to real reform with respect to domestic or foreign affairs.
We need change in America, but it's not going to come from the repubs or dems. Politics is like a gambling game. You play your best odds. The democratic party plays politics as a suckers game. Every years it's a coin flip for the supposed "lesser of two evils". It's gone on for too long and I just can't play it anymore.

You're absolutely right on this one. Voting for same old parties will get the same very sorry and old situation we have today.
The problem comes with the alternatives:
Constitution Party has some real bigotry issues.
Green Party is nothing but a bunch of enviro-nazis with Nader as the front man.
Libertarian Party has some good ideas, some not so good ideas, and nobody of significance running and no money to do it with. I'll vote for Barr just so I don't have to vote for the other 3.
There's more, but mostly of the wing nut set. Its amazing what pops up when you google political parties.
I like John, but I don't think I'd elect him for public office.

A large part of Obama's support comes from the "he ain't Hillary" school. It's very hard to have any enthusiasm for her, since if she is elected, Richard Mellon Scaife will just crank up his noise machine, and nothing will be accomplished while she is in office - just like they did to her husband.
I have no doubt that Mrs. Clinton can be elected. She won't carry any of the southern states, but she would have a decent shot at Ohio. On the other hand, I think Obama has a shot in at least two of the southern states.

Complete socialism or communism ? I don't think so. Things that I think are good are
1) A national health care plan. Socialism. Yes, But not extreme. Just something compatable to what the rest of the world has.
2) A strong defense thart is used to defend America, not to wage corrupt wars for the political and economic gains of a select few.
3) A strong educational system with incentives for people to go beyond high school into college. Perhaps a public educational system right on up and through college..
4) Environmentalism... yes. Making sensible environmental choices today so that future generations can enjoy a clean world.
That's about it. Is it communism ? I hardly think so. Socialism ? yes it is to a degree. But no more socialistic that most of the free world.

Democrats shouldn't worry at all about whether Obama or McCain is President. McCain has a long record of working with the Democrats in the Senate quite well, there will be little contention between McCain and the Democrats, it's a win-win situation for the Democrats this Nov. :o

The Democratic Primary in NC is a poor indicator of how the state will vote in Nov. NC is 68% white populace.
2000 results were 1,631,163 for Bush and 1,257,692 for Gore.
2004 results were 1,961,166 for Bush and 1,525,849 for Kerry.
Probably joy for McCain in NC this Nov.
SC numbers are similar in populace and voting record.
