Blame it on the Dems LALALA.

Like many around Virginia, state employees are looking for was to cut costs as gas prices drain their budgets.

The Virginia State Police is paying nearly $700,000 a month for gas, but they are only budgeted for $440,000.

The agency isn't touching any life-saving services, but is cutting back on non-essential training and promotions.

The Dept. of Transportation is also feeling the pinch - and not only in the gas for its vehicles.

"We are especially seeing it in oil and asphalt and those things," said VDOT spokesperson Jeff Caldwell. "We are seeing a marked increase, so it affects the number of miles we can pave because we can only do what's in our budget."

Not surprising really.
How would you like to be a fleet manager of any major organization.
I have seen fuel here jump over $.10 a gallon twice in the last two weeks.
What budget?
I often wonder how much the Border Patrol and other related agencies spend here in AZ on fuel each day.

So Greg, serious question - are you raising funeral costs too?

Why don't they buy some motorcycles? The State Police here has them, so does the Sheriff and even some of the small municipal departments. If they need to take someone to jail they can always call a car then.

I too would have thought we would have been seeing more law enforcement agencies going to motorcycles. It makes good sense.
