Thanks for the link. Mr. Vidal is a writer that I've never read, but should have a long time ago. Thanks for the reminder. I'll pick up something by him soon. What do you recommend?

"but it is also the Posse Comitatus Act of 1875, which the Army may not be used in any action against the citizens of the United States"
"Oh, everything was in there, yes. The USA PATRIOT Act is just the unnatural child of the Clinton ‘Oh, we’ve got to do something about these wild men in Montana."
"There has never been a people less suited for world dominion than the Americans of the twentieth century and twenty-first century." (21st century-absolutely)
"It was intended by that not-particularly-royal family that Jeb, Governor—by then Governor of Florida, would run for president in that slot when W. ran. And Jeb would be easily elected. He’s an intelligent person and a source of pride for the Bush family. Then little—the black prince breaks out of order and goes after it and gets it."
“Well, Aristotle or indeed history tells us that every republic of this nature has failed because of the corruption of the people.”
"The stupidest group of people that I have ever seen in public office are in it, have been in it for the last ten years, whatever."
:eek:The natural order of the universe has now been upended. When I agree with this much of what Gore Vidal has to say, we're doomed.
:)Title faked me out for a second!:)

Almost anything by Gore Vidal is a good read and very thought provoking. Even if you don't agree with everything he says it still get's you thinking and asking questions as well as inspiring insights into the nature of politics and people in general. "Blood for Oil" is a good read. But here is a list of writings by Gore Vidal. Take your pick.

Gore Vidal? Sounds like another member of the hate America crowd. I hope homeland security has this guy under surveillance.

Vidal's "Historical Narratives" series is an exceptional collection of works of great merit. Each is a work of deeply personal focus on a political topic that fits tightly into a sort of philosophical mosaic. All are worthwhile; start with "Burr."

Absolutely right. If there was any semblance of intelligence in the article, it's too subtle for me.

Apparently sarcasm is too.
