The old saying about power corrupts might be restated as 'money corrupts and lots of money corrupts absolutely'. What a shame that we find our country with the same problems we have looked down on in third world nations. Our border patrol seems to have its own set of personnel troubles . Public corruption is nothing new but I fear will only get worst as public morality declines.http://www.nytimes.com/2008/05/27/us/27border.html?_r=1&th&emc=th&oref=slogin

We hear about this type of stuff all the time.
Big money in stealing the drugs they find and getting into business for themselves arranging for illegals to enter the country at over $2500 each.
They have arrested a number of agents here in AZ.
I don't know that the number is out of line with any other large law enforcement agency though for corruption.

Probably not out of line with the national numbers for all law enforcement. My local sheriff just got stung by the FBI on cocaine charges, pled guilty for a short sentence. :o

Well, it was a FBI sting operation, no real crime was committed.

Still not the kind of guy we wanted in office for sure. :)

The FBI tests all local elected officials very regularly it seems? A local genuine criminal dealt his way out of trouble by offering to setup our sheriff for a fall. It worked, so he's out of office and off to a short term prison sentence, may get a suspended sentence in the deal?

I've always had mixed feelings about these types of FBI sting operations, when there's no implication of any past or true criminal actions taking place.
