FYI:
Be on the alert for RF interference from washing machines. I moved in with my stepdaughter who has a Maytag Model MAH7500AWQ washing machine, which emits a S-9 noise throughout the HF bands when it is being used.
A call to the Maytag service center revealed this washing machine was purchased in 2004 and the warrant has expired and I needed to pay for a service call to see what the problem was. The Maytag technical representative said their responsibility ended a year after purchase and further, all their washing machines comply with all FCC regulations.
A serviceman spent about a hour running several tests which verified the unit indeed was emitting interference. He stated he could not find a fault with the washing machine and suggested I install a line filter at the plug, buy a washing machine that did not have any electronics in it or live with the problem.
