You can see the drool dripping from the lawyers' fangs, and the dollar signs glistening in their eyes!

So the only reason to take kids away from crazy parents in Texas is if there is an "imminent" threat to them??
More lib'rul lunacy. And in Texas, no less!!
At what point did the planes on 9/11 become an "imminent" threat?
I wish I had a 16 year old daughter so I could sell her off to get married to some fellow who had several other 16 year olds. 'Dat's the ticket!!

Actually, the "liberal lunacy" was in taking the kids away from their parents in the first place. As the courts properly concluded, the state had no right to take away these kids without demonstrating an immediate threat.
My interpretation of "liberal lunacy" is when the gov't takes something of yours away from you, without proper evidence or showing of harm. Maybe they will come and get your guns because a woman 1000 miles away calls in a fake claim that you threatened her. They come to your house, take your guns and ammo, and tell you that you are not responsible enough to have it.
Back to your 9/11 airplane scenario, maybe they should have stopped those planes on August 25th, because their "might" be some future event involving them.

This oughta be interesting. Sick but interesting, it could help pave the way for anyone who wants to claim their perversions are a religious belief. It seems as if the issue at hand was whether or not the situation was one that presented imminent danger to the other children (other than the 5 that were known to have been sexually abused). I had to read this several times to believe they actually printed it:
"The court said the state failed to show that any more than five of the teenage girls were being sexually abused, and offered no evidence of sexual or physical abuse against the other children."
OK, you have five girls in this sect that you have shown were being sexually abused. How many do you have to have to suggest that the others might be in danger of the same fate? Or, do we simply wait until each of them has been sexually abused, then move in? Yes, this one is a trophy.
Through a loophole in the law, this group of perverts could very well be able to declare their acts legal, going against common modern day morality. Yes,that was an oxymoron, sorry. There is no morality in this country and this is just another shining example of that. People bitch and gripe all the time (I know because I hear it all the time) about how protective service agencies fail to intervene in a timely manner to get children out of abusive situations. Well, here's why the process takes too long. The path to safety is littered with legal and political landmines. CPS did their job in seeing a dangerous situation and acting. The failure here lies in the legal system. Of course, "failure" is a personal view. It's not a failure to those that believe it's ok to use children in this manner.

OK, the CPS has shown 5 alleged cases of abuse, but these are not proven. They are only what the state believes (and it could be true). But that leaves about 400 others that have no evidence of abuse. That is about 1% of the total. I don't know what the national average for parental child abuse is, but it is probably greater than 1%.
The state, after all of their posturing, should have produced dozens of potential cases, if not hundreds. The fact that they couldn't speaks volumes about how they have handled this situation. Here is another quote from the article:
Of the 31 people the state initially said were underage mothers, at least 15 were reclassified as adults before the hearings were suspended. One mother is 27.
A 27 year old being classified as "underage"? What are those CPS people in TX smoking? Things like this do irreparable harm to their credibility.

Regardless of what you think of their beliefs, they have a right to believe them. There are certainly other whacko Christian, Muslim, and other religions out there. Their kids aren't being taken away based on a hoax phone call, and no evidence.
Where does it end? Who gets to call the shots as to what is out in left field? Is circumcision a form of child abuse? Certain people think so, but it is widely practiced.
Joe
I felt this was coming all along.
As I understand it they based their whole case as I understand it on a call from a girl they never found at the compound and then found out she has made calls like this before and never was part of this group. I think she was in CO or something like that was she not?
I don't like the idea of any kind of child abuse but I really don't like the idea of doing things over and above the laws of the land at all.
This is going to cost the state of TX a bundle of money when it comes to the civil lawsuits.
How would you like to have been the judges or attorneys for the state that made the decisions to take those kids?
They have some explaining to do now.

And that is precisely why investigators and attorneys are required to investigate before they apply for a warrant of any kind.
When they do so they are stating that they have the evidence to support that need and the judges are supposed to read and verify the evidence.
Oh well, they can always chase ambulances with the rest of the attorneys in CA! :D
If they had tried to take my kids they would have had to put me in jail first!

His statement was obviously sarcastic but there are apparently many who think it's a plausible idea.

OK, so here we have 400 offspring of a bunch of papa's, and mama, mama, mama, and mama.
In the good old days, someone would say that was a clear violation of the law. It's supposed to be one papa, one mama in the U.S.A.. The leader of this group just went to jail for aiding, abetting, and committing rape of young girls in the group, for forcing them to marry when they are still in puberty.
Some would say that it's not a great idea to raise children in that kind of environment.
But, as long as you constantly declare your love of Jesus, it's all OK. You can ignore the law, and raise your children to ignore it. You can shoot at federal agents and kill a few, like they did at Waco. And if you are a big enough believer, you can do whatever you want to the children, particularly the girl children, without fear of government interference in "your business".
Personally, as long as the girls aren't forced to marry old men when they're 12, I don't care what they do.
I favor no groups of any kind. I am not even religious by nature. And I detest child molesters of any kind.
However, that said, the state had custody of these kids for some time now and still has no evidence of child abuse to the best of my knowledge. You would think that someone in the large group of kids would speak up if they felt they were abused by now.
That's abuse of power when coupled with the fact that the person that called was a phony in the first place.
