Alot of times, you see a tube and take the chance. Maybe it will be good. Here is an Honest seller telling you the tube is BAD! But it is still for sale anyway. I have a whole box of broken, gassy, unreadable and cracked tubes maybe I can now sell. Good for nothing other than THROWING at someone! But atleast the seller is HONEST!

Many "bad" tubes are used for things like making lamps.
Also, with tubes made in the 1920s and into the 1930s that appear to have a blown filament / heater all that is wrong is that acid flux solder was used when making the tube. Over the years corrosion has caused the connection to no longer be made. More often than not by reheating and then flowing in new solder those types of tubes can be made as "good as new". I have quite a number of tubes from that era that have been reclaimed just by resoldering the filament / heater connections.

I've done that too, and wrapped resistance wire around the base of the 35Z5(?) to replace the blown filament tap. Fun Fun.
