From the Float-A-Daily-Lead-Balloon department:
The DC Madam hanged herself recently. There are already conspiracy theories about her death not being a suicide but yet a homicide. Some have mentioned it parallels the Vince Foster case.

For what little it may be worth, some prescription drugs do cause suicidal thinking. "Have a drink, my dear..."

Actually, hanging and poisons seem to be the top 2 for women. Men like guns, I think.
Seems like men commit suicide about 5 times as much as women. Women make more attempts. For every male suicide, there are 5 attempts. For every female suicide there are 35 attempts.
Divorced men are number 1.

Because you can look them up in about 5 minutes on the internet. It was an interesting question that I was thinking about, too. But it seems to be a popular way for women to "off" themselves. Who knew.
Women are big on suicide attempts, but short on the actual deed. Men tend to follow through.
People kill themselves for all sorts of stupid reasons. There was one teenage kid that killed himself back in the early 80's because they canceled "Battlestar Galactica". Couldn't handle it.

For US males 15 and over, half of the handgun deaths are suicides. I suspect a finer division of age groups would show the increase starting at age 18.
