I've decided that I'm going to resurrect an old thread that started around the time that the youth forum was created. What does everyone like to do other that radio? We're all pretty much middle school through college so we have to have other activities, lets hear em, talk about 'em!
Since coming to college I've discovered a great sport that I never really knew before. I row for the RIT Crew team, It's really bitten me over the year and I'm really loving it. Although I'm not your stereotypical "tall" rower, I do well, and the racing is quite possible one of the most intense experiences. I've also very into mountain biking, Have been for years and can't wait to get back out on the trails this summer! Other than that I'm into other things on the side, such as paintball, hiking, a little bit of gaming, programming. theres probably more I can talk about but thats what I'll keep my post at for now.
Lets hear what the rest of you are up to outside amateur radio!

Well My Name is Alex. Forgive me if I screwed up something on this thread. It has been a while since I have been on QRZ. I am a Senior at Brunswick High in Maine. Some things I enjoy doing like KB1LQD is playing paint ball! I own a Tippmann 98 custom.
I love music as well. My favorite singer is Jimmy Buffett, and one of my Favorite bands is REO Speedwagon, running close second is Chicago. However I am an avid country music fan. I like about any kind of music that is out there, except rap! Hate it and never will like it!
On my spare time I enjoy studying history. Primaraly U.S. Naval history. I'd like to be a naval aviator some day.

That's awesome, lots of good stuff in here. I'm interested to see what colleges you are looking at? Norwhich? something like that? I have to say that I'm into pretty much everything when it comes to music, even a bit of rap, I'm a huge fan of dispatch though! Can't wait to get back to MA and play at FOX4 (paintball) again. BTW, wierd side note, I swear I saw someone walking around the RIT campus with a brusnwick cross country hoodie on, small world haha.

Angie and I usually have our hands full around here caring for 5 dogs and 5 cats.... during the week theres work, weekends you'll find us outside running the dogs working in the yard or around the house, cooking something new, or relaxing...
She loves to read, and work on the computers, we usually have 12-18 aound here at any given time....
As for me, when I am off the air, I am usually watching a ball game (cleveland Indians fan) or a movie, or working on vehicles... cleaning waxing maintenance. etc...
never a dull moment...

Well one college I'm interested in is the "New England School of Communications" NESCom for short. Can't say I'm surprised about seeing a Brunswick Cross Country hoodie. lot of kids that are inspired by our naval air station, that go on to persue a technical job.

I play golf for my high school, baskettball, and i love to attend tae kwon doe classes that our local YMCA gives. Also I am in band which is fun but marching band takes up a tonn of time. I also mow lawns in the summer for some money and landscape on a day to day basis in the summer for a lady who lives a couple minutes away. As for a social life thats a joke. Work, school, sleep, computer and radio, thats about it. Although you mentioned girls, last GF was a dud with a head full of rocks, lol. Not to mention she was 28 (she liked to party, I didnt), hehe my mom was not happy.:D

my other interests except (ham) radio are:
-cryptography (making my own algorithms eg.)
-my girlfriend (also a ham, PD5J)
-my study, (bachelor EE, next year also bachelor EE and then a master, don't know what master; could also be EE, or Broadband telecom, or information security technology) and then ofcourse a PhD ;-)
And a very big hobby is: watching that 70's show, really love it!
If i could i would be watching it all day long, with a nice glass of "Hoegaarden" in one hand, the remote in the other......

Yep but for some reason my profile was showing the wrong info, my B-day is not till the 22nd, lol. I must have thought I was checking the month box for the day, lol. But its all Copasetic now.

Demographically and causally speaking, I don't think many hams would know what to do with a "SO" if they could manage to find one.
I would NEVER EVER bring my XYL to Dayton. EVER. She'd have me committed. At least she would know I'm not cheating......
Oh well, 8 days until Dayton. It will be ugly this year.

Lets see other then radio I play guitar, BMX, farm in the summer to make a few bucks, hang out with friends (mostly another ham and his brother)> Then i also fish, hunt, camp, and have fires. Oh yea as far as girls go theres not many of them that I would want to date (hahahaha) but I guess getting girls is another hobby (that doesn't always work). Normal boring life of a 15 year old ham hahahaha. As far as school goes thats really not a hobby its something i got to do so i do it hahahahaha :D:)

I have to say that theres not much like having a fire in my fire pit with friends... haha ya just remember that girls and radio can exist together! And ya, school was school back then.. (Like 3 years ago) now that I'm paying for it haha Im loving it :) ! haha really once you get into classes towards things your interested in it is alot better.
Anyways, I gotta add to my other activities list... Linux.... Damn, I've recently installed a floppy disk linux onto an old CF-25 laptop and also put puppylinux 4 onto a VERY old machine... kind of addicting....ohh ya, and the new UBUNTU 8.04 is amazing, I'm running it right now.
ok, bedtime, going riding in the morning! (mountain biking)

Its a fine line. If my XYL saw all my radio gear when we were first going out, I don't think she'd be around. I only dug out my old gear after we bought or second home in the 'burbs and I had an epiphany one day when I was sitting out in the hot tub and looked at the back yard and realized that the 10 or 12 oak trees in the back would look really good with some copper wire running through them.....

What do I do in addition to ham radio? Sports, school, hang out with friends... I normally don't even get much time for ham radio. Anyways, I will play almost any sport, and I am good at all the sports I play. When I grow up I hope to be a professional baseball player. School will also take up a lot of time. I can normally make the A honor roll most of the time and I have to work hard to do that. Then when I have time, I hang out with friends.

In that case I'm surprised you're still on here with a lot of the other stuff that goes on. :p
If we get complaints we'll change it, based on our viewers age most recently I think that's not going to cause any problems. If it does we'll take care of it accordingly.

I just want to let everyone know that i'm very relieved to know that there are younger hams out there. I just got my technician license about a week and a half ago and i thought that y'all might be a legend. I'm happy y'all are not.:D So any way getting back to the forum... in my spare time i do a little photography, cajun dancing (it's actually quite fun), reading, and just generally goofing off.
