Doesn't say very much for New Port Richey, does it?
Doesn't say very much for New Port Richey, does it?
Actually it doesn't say much about the parties (Rep and Dem's) running against him.
Could this be the start of a pattern? Instead of voting Republican or Dummycrat people are actually thinking for themselves and voting in the person they feel could best do the position?
Na.... that is Florida. Probably another hanging chad issue.

Parts of Florida are very progressive (in the non-liberal way). This means many are more open minded about politics. Besides, the average intelligence level of Florida is higher than most other states I would be willing to bet.

That's like being pregnant in the non-maternal way, Matt.

You'd lose that bet, provided you were intelligent enough to state it in a way that made it possible to determine who won it.

I bet the reason is because you are a Florida native right?
Questions for Libertarians: You believe the Government should stay out of our life?
Do you use public roads? Social Security? Public Schools?
Wouldn't that go against the idea of extremely limited Government if they are intervening with all of that stuff?

Public roads - unfortunately the government has a monopoly on roads in this country. If one wanted to build a private or toll road they would have to get permission from, guess who, the government!!! So at the moment there isn't much choice because there isn't any competition for roads because the government is again in the way of freedom, choice, and free markets.
Social security - besides the fact that it's unconstitutional it is essentially robbing people of their money and then giving a fraction of it back to them at a later date. If I had a choice, no I wouldn't pay in to it to begin with.
Government schools - I grew up and was raised in government schools so I know how bad they are. Again, because people are being robbed to pay for other peoples education there is very little choice and almost no competition. My kids will NOT go into government schools (assuming I ever get a chance to mate ha ha). I will most likely educate them myself or pay an in-home teacher. Either that or send them to a high quality prep school.

Certainly. True freedom means having to pay a corporation for access to their roads in order to move about your neighborhood.
We should also sell off our national parks to the highest bidder. After all, where does it say in the constitution that the government should protect our natural treasures? I for one look forward to riding the Pirates of the Caribbean themed Crater Lake boat ride (sponsored by Monsanto Corp) and playing the slots in a casino atop Half Dome.

You guys never vacationed on Hilton Head Island, SC have you? Get your toll money out there! You aren't paying the gov., it's the property owners colllecting the tolls. :)

I go to a "Government" school.
Do quite well. So does everyone else.
You just need to want it to do good.
If you don't do good. You can't really blame the school unless they aren't doing anything.
They can present or teach you the material, but you have to want to learn it and be willing to put effort into it.

We should also sell off our national parks to the highest bidder. I agree. They are unconstitutional to begin with. Besides the biggest polluter in the US? The US government! I think the Sierra Club or some such group could take better care of the land than the government can.

Would that be the same Sierra Club that built their fabulous retreat for their top members and donors without any sewage treatment facility??? Must have been very embarrassing to be found as a major polluter of pristine waters? As I recall it was local trout fishermen who tracked down the source of the pollution to them?
Of course it was the contractor's fault. That explanation only held for about 48 hours and the contractor produced all the plans and correspondence involved, how embarrassing! :o
Just to clarify, I was once a heavy contributor to the Sierra Club and the World Wildlife Fund. After finding both to be pure hypocrisy in action, I withdrew from both. :)

Don't forget the national cemeteries... they're not expressly mentioned in the constitution either so clearly we need to get rid of those. Shouldn't be hard to find a buyer--I'm sure all that marble is worth something.

I guess that means you don't live there:D

I was just using that as an example (although maybe a bad one) to show that anyone but the government can usually do a better job at any specific task.

I can understand that. But I am sure there are some groups out there that are not hypocritical (or enviro whack jobs)
