Since I have re commissioned my station on the beginning of November 2008 I used this antenna CP-6 Diamond Vertical HF Antenna
on 17 meter, although this antenna is not designed to cover this band, still it was doing all of the job for me on 17 meter, always had strong signal, almost 60% of my contacts been made on this antenna which is designed to cover these bands only, * Bands: 3.5 -50MHz (6-10-15-20-40-80m), having said so, this antenna I have never worked ok on the bands it been designed for, always the SWR is high and the gain is poor, the condition is all ok on only 17 meter.
Isn’t this Unusual Phenomenon?

What is a typical "high" SWR? How have you measured the gain?

I have an SWR meter and power meter from Kenwood, I also have the same on my MFJ tuner which I do not use on 17 meter for this antenna, the SWR is around 1:3, less than 1.5 on the scale, the gain I always had very great signals received from all over the world, 60% of contacts been made on this antenna and only on 17 meter, the antenna never had good swr on other band, the 17 meter is not desgined for this antenna
Thank you my friend and wish all of the best 73

I may have misunderstood your response. What is an example of the bad SWR on the bands other than 17 meters?
My friend Rashed,
I suspect you need to adjust the antenna. You may also need some radials.
Did you do any calibration or adjustment with this antenna when you installed it?

My friend, on all other bands the swr is more than 3
Thank you and 73 my friend

I do not yet have the analyzer which I hope to have soon, the redials, I could not find the real size of them, that why I had to cut the stanlesssteel redials to a length of 21inches each for the lower row. and iam glad that the antenna did not tone to the desigend bands but did tone nicely on 17 meter, My yagi cover the 10,15 and the 20 meters which is all ok.
Even if I did tune the antenna now , I might loose the 17 meter which I do not want to.
When I get the other antennas then I will keep this one for my portable yse only.
Thank you my friend
The antenna was not designed to work on 17.
If you want 17m I guess you can just leave it that way, although it will probably radiate like a wet noodle.

This 17 on this an desgined antenna to coer it did all of the good and great work on this band for me, no swr to worry about and all 599 from all over including the state side, receiving is also fantastic, but again when I get the analyzer I will adjust this antenna to work on the 10,15 and 20 meters for my picnics I also have now the sand base for it, the CP-6 I can open the pieces and join them together when I reach my portabel destinations.
My friend still no answer about the equipment, I hope everything is ok
