This link was posted over on another forum in a subject about apartment antennas....
SG-211 Auto Tuner (http://www.sgcworld.com/211apartmentinstall.html)
And, in the first paragraph, "...The apartment complex is a gated community with typical restrictions against ham radio installations. Even though my apartment is inspected each quarter by the property management, ...

(emphasis obviously added)
Holy Bat Guano! People actually are willing to live like that? What kind of people have we become?
A house/condo/whatever is now an investment, rather than a place to live.
This is silly because it just keeps driving up the price, and you are right - that is no way to live.
Strangers shall keep OUT of my house unless invited.

But, but communal living under strict guidance is the ultimate goal of the modern Democratic Party!!! It sounds like Heaven for Dems to me??? ;)

Seems like both sides can talk about this. The other side wants to bring on the The Panopticon Singularity (http://www.antipope.org/charlie/rant/panopticon-essay.html). Take a plane trip. You think security is there to ensure your safety? It's there to keep a very close eye on US Citizens travelling. This is courtesy the "other side."
cc&r's in this neighborhood were for 25 years period. They expired just about the time I bought the house. I don't think that happens anymore, they probably are for eternity now.

A lot of those people who want restrictive covenants are actually hardworking conservatives who use their homes to (try to) build wealth.
Remember according to your theory the dems are all lazy and unemployed and living in the ghetto, or super rich and not really bothering with anyone because they have money to do so.
Meanwhile the cons are the middle class working folks who work hard for a house and who want a private government to maintain their precious property value.

We inspect our rentals on a quarterly basis. That's nothing out of the ordinary really.

Who, me?
I really don't care. I bought my house to live in and play radio, not primarily as an investment.

Your rights as a renter are quite different than your rights as a private home owner. Me-thinks if you owned (maybe you do?) a home you were renting out to someone, from time to time you might just meander over to make sure they haven't painted it purple or something.

I lived in an apartment for almost 4 years from late 1973 to 1977. We had inspections about every 6 months. Although I never got formal permission to put up an antenna from the the group that managed the apartment complex, I was able to go the stealth antenna route by loading up the apartment's complex aluminum guttering. No one even knew I was operating.

Around here, if you want to inspect the rental from time to time you must include that in the lease agreement. In my leases there is a entire section that allows me to perform a physical inspection of the property every 90 days at my option, I give them a 7 day notice as to when I will be entering the home for the inspection. I try to work with my renters and do it when they are there whenever possible.
We used to do this semi annually but since I started doing it every three months my costs for repairs have dropped dramatically.
I can erect a 140-foot tower at my place, per our State's amateur radio related statute, AS 29.35.141. It supersedes Borough (county) law.
What does your state do for you?

You'll probably need a 140 foot tower where you are, in the land of zero propagation. :)
FYI, I have a 70 foot tower at my place. I can go higher, which is my next tower for the stacks...
T-Mobile sued the town for the right to put up a 120ft tower and won. As a result the town is afraid to go to court for any other antenna case. It's just too expensive, and the residents don't like our taxes going up because of nonsense.
So that is essentially what our state did for us - gave us courts to fight stupid zoning laws, and legal precedent to make two traffic light towns think twice about denying antenna permit applications.

I don't think the Dems have a monopoly on this. Remember the policy initiated under Reagan, to "get the government off our backs and into our bedrooms"?

I never caught Reagan peeping in my BR? :)
Maybe he was only suspicious of you, probably that pic of you on K1MAN's website??? :D
I've been suspicious of you ever since I saw it!
