New pop-up book series by the league. Just pop in a battery or put in the light (for the photocells), then type away on digital modes! Completely idiot proof! No rig to buy, read as you use the rig, store in your bookcase. What a great idea!

Gutenberg would be proud.

Now all that needs to be accomplished is to be able to type legibly.

Some hurdles for some people simply cannot be overcome.....

Charlie - are you an ARRL member?

Do you even bother to read the guidelines about using the ARRL logo?

Come on Ryan, lighten up. Charlie has my permission to use that logo.

But that cat has got to go! Freaks me out to no end.

Nope. The avatar has to stay until I can figure out what it REALLY is.

Sad thing is that this thread will likely go 10+ pages...

Of that, I have no doubt.

Yes I am a member. No I can't read mumbo jumbo. Besides it is NOT a put down, mainly a reference to the next step in AR. I hereby assign my rights to this idea over to the ARRL for the value of a life membership.

Imagine a pop-up book that has electronic circuitry for a QRP data rig built in. Could have photocells running it with a super small interface cable stored in the spine of the book for signal and interface. With the cost of ICs you could probably sell it for under $100 with MixW built in. The soft chicklet keyboard could pop up and the screen could be a thin LCD of about 2-4 lines.

Sorry, Charlie. You didn't think it through. Why waste all that software IQ on mere radi operation? It should be a license manual that takes the test for the candidate.

Better watch it Charlie, looks like somebody's gonna report ya! I'm sure the ARRL has something better to worry about than an obvious joke.

Now if you are serious.. then thats a whole 'nother story. Now with everything shrinking these days the way it is, who knows this could someday happen heh

You may want to reconsider this, Charlie. If you call it a parody, use of the ARRL logo could more easily called a fair use application.

If the ARRL feels threatened by KY5U then heaven help them.

It will come with one of Nathan Cohen's fractal antennas built into the cover. Or an Isotron. LOL!
