I submitted an article to eham about a month and a half ago and it has still not been approved and I haven't heard anything on it via email other then the conformation email I got about it when I first submitted it.
Does anyone know of problems their staff has been having or should I just keep waiting. Has anyone had this happen to them in the past? This is the first article that I have ever submitted to them, I thought it would be about two weeks (that's what their site says) but it has been at least 2 times that. (I almost forgot that I had even submitted an article except for the fact that I found the conformation one in my inbox when I was surfing around)
It took about a month for mine to get published, though I regret it having been published. It was well-received by many but a few of E-ham's regulars made it a miserable experience for me; after that, I migrated here and haven't returned to e-ham since.
QRZ rocks!

I've had a few of those moments before. It seems most people are so wrapped up in their egos these days that they turn Hippocratic and forget about themselves.
As I am told, forget them! It's not worth fighting back. Thanks for the word about eham, they probably get a ton of articles that flood in so I do understand if they are having a big delay.

Does making a submission mean it will be published, or might be published? Curious to your standpoint.

Don't worry about it. As for your article.. in some places its about who you know. :D I'm sure it would eventually get published, but you're probably not on the top of their list.
Until then, why don't you just post it on your own site to give it some publicity? That's always a good choice. People will find it. Google works wonders :)

Good idea!!
Calvin why don't you post it on goKarters. I want to read it anyway. I also want to read the article you sent to that other publication that I can't remember the name right now. Post them both on there.

there is no need in going to e-ham or any other amateur site when QRZ is the best there is.
Even just to read...there is no need in going any where else.
If you dont believe me, waste youor time and go elsewhere...you WILL come back here.
You are here now, so why leave ??
I dunno, since W4AN became a SK, that place just hasn't been the same.

I don't like eating at the same restaurant every time I go out to eat and I don't like going to the same website all the time either. There are good and bad things about all sites. QRZ has hands down has the best call sign lookup. No question about it. It also has the best arguments, conflicts, flame wars, and some good information when you filter out the other stuff. Lately, I have found a lot of helpful information on eHam. Probably just what I happened to be searching on but they had several good articles related to what I was reading about. I check no less than 4 ham related message boards daily. Others I check when I feel like it. I learn something from all of them. If you like QRZ and you want to stay here all the time good for you. Enjoy yourself! I personally don't think things I've learned in other places are a waste of time.

eHam is the pits.
The mods know that people that have been banned are coming back under different user names and do little or nothing about it. The let these 'folks' (one in particular) harass and abuse people until it gets so out of hand it's unbelievable.
Post your article here Calvin, we will all read it. If you think you are given a hard time here, just wait until the anonymous twits on eHam start on you.
Here is a rather tame example of what they let get posted there:
Hey have a nice day… remember what that other person suggested to you… personal hygine is a item that can be offensive if you are not taken care of… so make sure you check your diapers at least 5 or 6 times a day… Lord knows when you get your age how constanance is in you old people… a puddle here… a puddle their… a puddle every where you stop… and sleep for a hour….
We know where you have been by the stinking puddles you leave….. are we having fun yet…..”
There have been much, much worse that were finally deleted after extensive complaints to the moderator. Nonetheless, they remained for days, if not weeks, before anything was done.
Some of best contributors no longer post there. There are still a few hold outs but the site is no longer worth reading or posting to, IMHO.

Are you actually suggesting none of the 'Zed loyalists have egos?
Wow...
Thanks for today's laugh...

I wonder, of those that have decided to study medicine because of posting here, how many actually went ahead and got their degrees?

You seem to be the one with the ego. You have been trying for weeks to get "published". You posted a few weeks ago about getting recognition that you "deserve".
You are trying to get recognized by pushing your website as well.
Ham radio is about fun not trying to become famous.
I am glad that a young man like yourself has an interest in ham radio, just don't try so hard to get recognized. It will come AFTER you earn it.
As a suggestion, spend some of your time convincing other young people to get into the hobby. Be an Elmer.
Once again, recognition will come.

A bit strong I suspect for his young ears, but I agree with the concept.
Cal, I remember being thirteen.
Time means something different as you grow.
You seem to have the right stuff, appreciate who you are and where you are in life, at each step.
Do the best you can in anything you pursue, and realise that those around you see life from THIER perspective, not yours.
Your OWN perspective expands AS you grow, and the concept of TIME takes on a new meaning as you appreciate your growing awareness of other people, positions, and THIER perspective.

Are you serious? Tell that to a few folks who have had their stuff "published" on just about every ham radio website possible in order to feed their egos. I think Calvin has great motivation for this hobby -- frankly a lot more than some hams four or five times his age.
He is just trying to figure out why its taking so long for his article to be posted. Needless to say, there's a lot of junk on that site now that should be replaced by content that isnt there just to feed the writers ego.
I really get annoyed by the ageism on this site. Age does not always equal brains.

No one seems to read so I'll post this where you can see it
IT's not his site!!!
He is just exited about what is going on there. I believe some of you folks could turn a birthday party into a funeral.

I've had a couple articles published there, and it takes a long time, generally. They get many more articles than they use, and it takes a while for them to get around to them. I think it also depends on what the moderator thinks the audience will find interesting.

Being a member of both web sites I believe that both sites are good, for different reasons. I have no axe to grind being at least a good three thousand miles or more from wherever they are.
Its like people asking wich is the best dog, a Golden retriever or a Dalmatian, both nice dogs for whatever suits you. However the one big difference is the quality of the humour, there isn't any on e-ham. Most of the correspondents are curmudgeonly, and there are some cross dressers of both sites, with a suspicion many suffer from permanently severe constipation.

Obviously you didn't get any brains with your age.
Go back and read his posts. IMHO he is trying too hard to get recognized.
As I said, you earn recognition. You don't ask for it or demand it.

TWO;
I am not trying to get recognized, I already have several articles that WILL FOR SURE be published in magazines. This whole topic was a question on how long the eham process generally takes.
You want to read my posts? go ahead and waste your time; some people have way to much time on their hands if they want to do that. Another thing, my old account was deleted so I could go back and re-register with CAPS for my call, I think I lost all my old posts. I can't edit anything from "k0dxc" and I don't think it shows up with my account if you do the profile search. If you want to read through the millions of other posts on the zed just to find my old ones, be my guest.
Why am I writing articles? Because I was asked to. Honestly, I was approached by another young ham (14 years old) who said that it would be a good idea for me to write articles because there are to many people out there that don't think there's enough youth in this hobby. I then asked a few editors if they would be interested in my work and they were more then thrilled. Trying to get recognized my butt.

I would, but I don't think I should. I don't think the editor would be happy if I went and posted it on qrz (the biggest ham site there is)
Maybe I'll post the eham one. If it's not published within a week I will.
Then again; maybe I won't on account of "Trying to hard to get recognized"

Just chill, man. The more you stir the pot with replying, the more people will come after you. Just drop it and let it go.

QRZ is far superior to eHam. I say go for it. If eHam doesn't publish you in short order, don't fret it. All you have to do is hit the 'button' and you are on the 'Zed for all to see....just make sure you use spell check when you do, lest the spelling sharks (me included) have you for lunch.
That being said, I am not to sort to criticize without offering to help. I you need a proofreader I am always available.
I don't know if you have noticed or not but my posts are always perfect in every way. :D
