Congratulations on your girlfriend getting her license, I like her callsign.
My XYL hates ham radio but every year she is out there in the field with me to operate Field Day. Funny thing is that she is an excellent contester, she can run a pileup better than some experienced contesters I know.

My XYL took the tech exam to have something in common with me, so I try to include her in my ham radio stuff as much as possible. She was licenced initially as KJ4BVL, then applied for and got K8ANG... fits her much better!
She may never be heard on the repeaters, but she is trying to take an interest in something I am into, and I appreciate her efforts. It's funn to be able to discuss antennas and stuff with her, plus now that I am trying to put up outside antennas, she's getting an idea of 'why' I am trying to put up the antennas i picked. At the same time, we can work together to plan the landscaping...

Excellent another 21 year old! I thought I was the only one... If you're bored I'm on 40m PSK just about every night from 0000z to 0300z 7.070 MHz.
Congratulations. I am slowly trying to get back into the hobby (put a 2 meter in the new car today) and hoping to do a Field Day event. Hopefully through this I can get my YL involved. She thinks it is neat and when I told her there was a YLRL she got even more interested.
Your YL getting their ticket is just the fist step <g>.
Now, to get them 'radio active' and doing their own thing for their reasons and more importantly, their enjoyment of the hobby.
I'm still working that part and may well take longer - it seems....

we still have to learn CW, so we won't be able to make a CW qso soon i'm afraid.
Julia(PD5J) is also 21, i'm 22.
This friday we went to Haarlem (near Amsterdam) to buy a TRX for her, we bought a kenwood ts-120v for a very nice price, (175 euro),( a billion US dollar i guess). We haven't build a good antenna yet but we did already make a QSO with it, in ssb on 14 MHz to slovenia.

Cool!
Yeah, pretty soon Europeans will be retiring to the U.S. due to the weak dollar. I'm sure you can get some pretty nice real estate, maybe build a contest station eh? ;)
What are you thinking for the antenna?

We now use a dipole made from electical wire. We've got an old CB vertical antenna and i'm going to make it work on our HF bands.

I met my girlfriend through ham radio. Her call is KB1NZV. We are both very in love, but one thing we do not agree on is the best brand of radio. Everyone knows that you can't beat /\/\otorola. :)
