View Full Version : Barack Obama has gone on the record opposing Article 125, military's ban on sodomy
Illinois Senator (and 2008 Democratic presidential candidate) Barack Obama has gone on the record opposing Article 125, the military's ban on sodomy.
In response to a Gay City News article last week, Senator Obama's campaign now says he opposes the sodomy ban. The paper says it will publish an update to its original story, reflecting Obama's position, in its next issue, on April 19th. The Senator joins Christopher Dodd, Dennis Kucinich, Joe Biden and Mike Gravel in opposing the ban.
Insiders in the military are asking the question what else could the Democrats do to make themselves one giant pain in the Dit Dah, Dit Dit Dit, Dit Dit Dit
http://freedomtoserve.blogspot.com/2007/04/obama-drop-military-sodomy-ban.html
Sound like old B Husain Obama is taking a play out of the Bill Clinton presidential play book --- wonder how old Hillary feels about that?
And here I thought Obama was a Gun Control Candidate? (This is my weapon, this is my gun........)

Obama is a racist, gun grabbing, pro-abortion, marxist.
What else would you expect from him?
BVN
I agree with your assessment of Obama and what is is---the scary thing is that he is better than Hitlary Clinton. I hope McCain is elected but I PRAY that he selects someone even better than himself as his running mate. If something happens to McCain (age is an issue) we will need someone without McCain's many flaws when the _ _ _ _ hits the fan.
I predict McCain will select Lieberman.
If he does, I cannot vote for him.

As I asked you in another post. Can you support your assertions ?
When and where did Obama indicate that he is a believer in Marxism and when and where did he indicate that he would apply the principles of Marxism as president ?
How is a a racist ? Other than things a preacher said, cite examples where he employed discriminatory practices that could deem him a racist ?
When and where has Obama taken away peoples guns ?
How does any of this apply to his being opposed to a ban against sodomy ? Perhaps Obama simply feels he should keep himself out of other peoples personal sexual practices.

How is Hillary any better or worst than Obama ? or McCain for that matter. All three are where they are because they are "safe candidates" who will maintain the status quo.

"Typical White People" - racist
"... .. The point I was making was not that my grandmother harbors any racial animosity. She doesn't. But she is a typical white person who, uh, if she sees somebody on the street that she doesn't know there's a reaction that's been been bred into our experiences that don't go away and that sometimes come out in the wrong way and that's just the nature of race in our society. We have to break through it..." - Senator Barack Obama
“And it’s not surprising then they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren’t like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations,”
"Punished with a baby..." - Pro Abortion
"But it should also include -- it should also include other, you know, information about contraception because, look, I've got two daughters. 9 years old and 6 years old," he added.
"I am going to teach them first of all about values and morals. But if they make a mistake, I don't want them punished with a baby," Obama said.
He did NOTHING as a state senator to reverse the most restrictive gun controls and violations of 2nd amendment rights in the county. He's already stated he wants to get rid of concealed carry.
“I am not in favor of concealed weapons,” Obama said. “I think that creates a potential atmosphere where more innocent people could (get shot during) altercations.”
As for him being a Marxist....well he's a do-nothing liberal...I don't know how he feels about Karl Marx....or Groucho either.
And somehow that is worse than perpetuating an illegal war of aggression and having our young men and women in Camp X-ray, Guantanamo and other military holding facilities commit war crimes on a daily basis.
Worse than putting the country into debt to our long time enemy China out of ideological convenience.
Worse than a White House that has openly proclaims that it does not care what you think about anything. On more than a dozen occasions, just so you'd understand what they were saying (you didn't).
Yeah, you got your priorities straight there Bubba.

So, in other words , other than thinking that he is a liberal you have nothing to back up the assertion that he is a Marxist. As far as all else goes the only thing you've convinced me of is that he doesn't express himself very well, particularly out of context.

I'm gonna vote for Obama if he's the Democratic nominee. McCain is one of the Keating Five (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Keating_Five) and that's intolerable.
Hillary is just Bill Clinton part 2. Although Bill Clinton doesn't seem so bad when you compare him to President Bush.
And?
Sometimes in war you do what you have to do to win.
For those that have not served in time of war you don't have a clue as to what really goes on.
Politicians and the media need to be kept back and let the troops do their jobs.
I am a firm believer that if the war were up to the military it would have been over a long time ago.
Same thing was true for RVN.

That just makes you a criminal as well Ken.
Your morals are lacking, don't try to take the high ground again. You've just shown yourself for what you are.
BTW - I was Marine, and torture was a crime then as well. Your lack of concern for international law and regulations is appalling and disgraceful. All that is wrong with the US is represented in your post.
Disgraceful.
Yes, as a veteran with the right to freedom of speech that I fought for you are absolutely correct.
And when you have to survive you do what you have to do.
You won't win your point with me.

You won't win your point with me.
You didn't fight for me Ken.
My freedoms were in no danger when you were committing war crimes in my name. I take it that is what you are admitting to, right?
Your rights are in danger everyday. You just don't have a clue.
But then again you are young enough you never had to live with the fear of being drafted did you?
And I never said I comitted war crimes.
And accusing me of such could get you in deep trouble.
Oh and another thing there Ken,
The men and women committing war crimes in Camp X-ray and Guantanamo aren't doing it to survive, they are doing from safe bases and comfortable billets where they are fed regularly and only see the enemy when he is bound, disoriented and vulnerable. Then they torture that enemy.
Proven fact, lot's of victims running around over here that were released that YOU will never hear about (such is the freedom you have) I am sure.
Your attempt to spin it otherwise is despicable.
I make no attempt to justify what anyone does in war.
It's a judgement call each must make at the time.
If the politicians would keep us out of wars we don't need to be in troops would not have orders to follow or decisions to make.
I was drafted and did what I was told and sometimes what I felt was needed to survive the tour. Yes I spent an extra tour and if I had known what I was in for the next fours years I would not have been there.
I would have loved to have someone like you serving beside me. It's an education, believe me.

Oh, you implied it well enough:
And when you have to survive you do what you have to do.
In context you were speaking from experience.
And you clearly are defending violating the UCMJ, the Geneva Conventions and the law of the United States.
What exactly is it you think you can do to me for pointing this out?
What kind of trouble? Certainly not legal, the implication of your statement is clear enough for a reasonable jury of any make up.

Yo IZE,

Yeah, those darned ultra liberal left wing commies at ABC. And the nerve of them for only donating $650,000.000 to GW Bush's campaign. Almost as bad as NBC/Westinghouse with that ultra liberal left wing commie pinko hippie leftie Frankie Carlucci of Carlyle Group.

That is more justification.
Sure, it sucks.
It is not life threatening nor does it present any opportunity to claim heat of battle as a cover for torture.
They are commiting war crimes and you are here trying to spin it different.
Maybe we'll all get lucky after your move to London and they won't allow you back in this country.
Been there, would not go back.
Maybe we'll all get lucky after your move to London and they won't allow you back in this country.

Hey, don't be mad!
You are the one trying to defend what you (and I as well) were trained to know are war crimes that we were not to commit.
Dumb position to try and take, it's indefensible and in every way despicable.
Don't worry though, the percentage of uneducated mouth breathers in the US is utterly amazing for such an industrialized country. Almost a case study in regressive sociology.
I'm not likely to want to return to that zoo.
Have a nice trip!
It's been better than the previous 42 years so far.
Aw yes, the grass is always greener until you have to take care of the yard.

Right, so your experience as (totally arrogant I am sure) military personnel in a country where the locals only tolerated your presence is going to be useful as a baseline for me as a productive, well paid, contributing member of this society.
Right.
I was military as well, I know the locals don't like us.
I'm not military now, and the locals like me just fine because I am educated, articulate and speak with them as an equal. It helps that I also follow local customs wherever I go. Something US military personnel seem to avoid doing for fear they might become socialists or something.
I am mowing the lawn here Ken, and it is a very nice lawn indeed.

Marx (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Karl_Marx) was a social economist and philosopher. I'm sure the average ham that enjoys making accusations that someone is a "Marxist" knows absolutely nothing about Karl Marx.
Most of the Knobs on this forum are too old and closed minded to learn anything, but Marx had some interesting things to say. Yeah, he was enamored with certain aspects of communism, and viewed capitalism as being corrupt. And as it turns out, capitalism *is* corrupt but it provides incentives to people that communism does not. I'm happy I live in a capitalist system.
Marx identified socio economic classes, namely the Bourgeoisie (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bourgeoisie) and Proletariat (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Proletariat). These classes still exist today and everything he said about them is still true.
Philosophy is like a buffet, you can pick and choose what you like and skip what you don't like. You can admire Marx for his brilliance and insite into the social classes and disregard his passion for communism.
I'm not saying you guys should should embrace Marx, but at least spend 20 minutes reading about him and his impact on the world. He was a great man. He was right about some things and wrong about other things.

You mistake the meager and hard scrabble handouts the US begrudgingly gives with honest social programs as implemented in Europe.
The two are in NO way comparable, the latter being something that actually works and benefits the people while the former is there just to shut up liberaly minded citizens and garner votes.
You are going to be hard pressed to find the same offering at the same levels between the two societies. The US is not a Socialist anything, what little it does do it does grudgingly and is miserly about it.
As for the Brits, they just like to minge. Ask a Brit over here who knows anything about the US if he would trade what he has here for what you have there and he'd tell you to piss off. Been there and discussed that already on several occasions with real Brits right here in England.
They think you are daft. Truly. Utterly. Incomprehensibly. Daft.

I guess the Clinton's "Don't Ask, Don't Tell Policy" had to receive Liberal Barry's touch and explicit commentry.
The rush to install declining moral standards within our Military is quite telling.
Makes me go, "Hmm..."
Are youimplying that anyone in the military would engage in sodomy ? Seems pretty embarrasing if we need to enact a law banning sodomy in the military. Far more embarrasing than if some guys are engaging in such behavior and simply keep it private and out of sight.

Aren't you weird with this post... Barry O went on-the-record opposing the BAN on sodomy. He wishes to allow sodomy. You know, it's that GAY thing he's for...
So much for high moral standards and virtues. They're not so obvious to loose Libs like Obama. No wonder he and his wife aren't proud or happy with America, a sound military based on time honored moral values, natural law, and tradition in-general.
He embodies the "Enemy Within."

Perhaps it would more productive to ban the mistreatment of wounded soldiers. Or ban cutting of soldier's benefits. Or ban the practice of sending troops into combat without proper equipment.

I'll say it... Barry O's opposition to our Military ban on sodomy is... well, just plain asinine!
As a recently retired, 21-year, USAF veteran, I do care -- more than most. I give monetarily to various veterans' organizations, since a gift of my time is in short supply.
In fact, I just received a letter from Edward A. Powell, President and CEO of the USO, asking for additional support in 2008. Gen. David Petraeus has said, "The USO is at the point of the spear. Our Military is now an expeditionary Force, and the USO is now expeditionary with us." The USO depends on individual donor support -- they do not receive government funding -- it is a private, non-profit, 501(c)3 organization.

So I don't understand. How do you ban sodomy in the military ? Since sodomy is an act that can be carried out between 2 men, or between man and woman, and since it is a sexual act then wouldn't it make more sense to simply ban sex in the military ? Is sex banned in the military ? If it's allowed then whats to stop 2 guys from doing sodomy ? Or if hetero sex is allowed whats to stop a man/woman couple from sodomy ? Seems to me it's kind of futile and kind of absurd and an embarrassment. I think Obama did the military a big favor by opposing such a ban.

Are you doing it ceremonially though?
You know there is a certain method to respectfully dispose of a flag by burning, and a "push to start torch" wouldn't work without you burning yourself, unless you were to light a larger fire.
Anyway, in flag burning you are supposed to give it to a government agency, or Boy Scout troop to do it. Flag burning on one's own is frowned upon.

All of my equipment is OK'd by OFCOM. The only thing keeping me from operating the old gear here is my current lack of inverters. A problem to be remedied this month. What restrictions are you talking about? I haven't run into any.
As for antennas, don't be daft. I'm moving into a house (note the word "house" Jethro, not "flat") in June that has a backyard that stretches 145 feet back in an east-north-east direction. I'm not going to have any problem with running a wire at all and it'll be oriented perfect for North America. My landlord has already blessed the antenna installation and my neighbors probably won't be able to see it.
Keep talking out your neck Jethro, it's important for people to see that they can't believe you.
