Because otherwise some people who are hard of hearing would post about politics in the ham radio forums.

Think of the political forum as a drain.

I thought QRZ was a place to get info about the art of Ham Radio! I can't believe that there is a forum for politics!
Why in the world does QRZ have this nonsense on its site???: eek:

So you tell me what is the difference between a bunch of whiny, sniveling hams debating politics and a bunch of whiny, sniveling ham debating over HOAs, Riley Hollingsworth, or the shear lunacy of the 75/80 meter band, hmmmm? Except for the subject matter, they all have the same attitude. It doesn't matter if you were talking about the proper way to change a light bulb: somebody has got a different opinion about it and we all know that opinions are like your a$$hole-everybody has got one and they all stink regardless of the subject matter.

If you don't like what you see here, crawl back under your bridge, troll, or find another forum.

P.S. Pass me the cheese so I can enjoy my whine. :D:p

Hmm, let's call this number 1234567890 that has asked why there is a politics forum. I say WHY NOT?!?! And yes, for the most part it is fun, some sniping and some people that are a bit over the top, but for the most part it can be interesting.

And as I said in the last thread, there are enough of these threads asking about why there is a political forum, to start their own forum now.

The one thing you need to keep in mind is that QRZ is geared toward the amatuer radio entusiast, a hobby traditionally dominated by old men.

Men who've put in the time, for the good of the system, and in most cases screwed by it. These are experienced men, men with opinions.

And who, when given half a chance will freely voice those opinions to whomever happens to be close by.

I am not disaparaging my fellow hams, in fact, quite the opposite. I am calling attention to the vast brain trust we have at our disposal on QRZ.

I am quite sure as smart as these guys are, and as smart as some members 'think' they are, the membership of QRZ could wipe out cancer, world hunger and poverty, and if given the proper set of keys, even bring down the cost of a gallon of gas, and improve the standing of the US in the world community...

And the last web forum that took actions that I didn't agree with, I removed myself from. I guess that I should have stayed and posted whining after whining? But then I wasn't in the least bit interested in making myself look totally foolish. :)

What you don't seem to understand is that, around here, it is a contest to see who can look the most foolish. They've never been able to pick a winner, however, due to the high numbers of ties at the top.

Well, so much for it being all nice and about amateur radio. Welcome to the fray, leave your sensitivity at the door.
