We have a lighthouse here and several times a year waves on Lake Michigan crash over the top of it.

Actually we have two, this is the only picture I could find that illustrated the effect of the waves. On may occasions I have been down there when the waves went right over the top of the lighthouses.

If you want to see waves crashing over a lighthouse you should see the waves which crash over the Eddystone Lighthouse off Lands End. It stands facing the huge waves of the Atlantic Ocean and the lighthouse at The Needles on the Isle of Wight had its helicopter landing pad and netting damaged a number of years ago. Also there used to be seven Needles but after a vicious storm one night observers noticed one had vanished into the sea.
