I am a member of the Shelby Amateur Radio Club and have been asked by he Hamfest Chairman to post on QRZ that the 52nd annual Shelby Hamfest is not cancelled. The hamfest will happen, it may not be at the Cleveland County Fairgrounds but it will happen.

Thanks Susan, it's good to know that some alternatives can be worked out. We were discussing your situation at our last meeting, as a matter of fact. Best wishes on getting things back on track.

Susan,
Since I enjoy going to hamfests and some are not happening this year, was glad to read yours was still on. I'll place a link to the site address to help get the word out. Best of luck with your fest!

Please plan now to come to the Shelby Hamfest. It will be in a new location. The new location is much better than the old fairgrounds. This situation will be talked about for many years to come as to how it was a blessing in disguise. Please plan to come and bring a big group. Most of the hotels in Gaston County are either brand new or almost new. One big one nearby is under construction and I think will open right about the time of the Hamfest.Restaurants and activities are plentiful. Come a week or two early if you are fortunate enough to have the time. Contact me for any information about the local area. If I do not know the answer, I will try to get it. I am going to learn to build a website and try to use it for information about the area. There is a radio controlled race track right up the very road where Biggerstaff Park is located. I am going to try to learn about it and relay that to you. The new US National Whitewater Center is only a short drive away. The Shiele Museum of Natural History, The Daniel Stowe Botannical Gardens, C.Grier Beam Truck Museum,Historic Downtown Dallas, and many more places to visit are close to the new Shelby Hamfest site.

And here is the new Raceway attraction. I have not been there, but I hear that it is real fun. It is near the new Hamfest site . Just head toward Cherryville on the same road (279) and it is right before Cherryville to the right. You can go by there on your way to the Grier Beam Truck Museum.
