April 1st peak of Solar Cycle 24

The website Spaceweather.com reports that April 1st is the peak of the sunspot cycle.

The website says:

"NASA researchers have rescheduled solar maximum.
The peak was due in 2012, but now it's going to happen this month.

"We've launched millions of dollars worth of spacecraft to study solar activity, and what are we getting? Puny little A-flares and feeble old sunspots," complained a high-ranking source at NASA headquarters. "We need some real explosions! Rescheduling Solar Max should solve the problem."

News of the shift was announced on April 1st (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/April_Fools%27_Day).

...And of course I am at work. Since getting my license 25+ years ago, this marks the 3rd peak I've COMPLETELY missed.

Oh well. Like a locust, I'll be back in 11 years.

What do you mean, "joke"? I've been working some fantastic DX since NASA rescheduled the solar maximum.

Why, just this morning, my logbook began filling up with calls such as AH0AX, FO0LS, TR1CK and OK2LAF. Turn on your rigs before you miss it!

Actually, it's not that difficult to raise the solar flux -- you merely have to tweak the flux capacitor.

Probably because they value the opportunity to laugh more than the opinions of people who are less able to.

Hey, the best DX usually comes when you're either asleep, at work, or helping your significant other with a must-do project. Much of the rest of the time the minicycles are at ebb tide. But you know the best catch of the game is often when you're at the stand getting a hot dog.

Possibly the various Amateur groups that put satilites in orbit would switch to putting small nukes into orbit and periodically detonating them so that the ionoshpere would stay ionized.

Just got done adjusting it, thanks. You have to make sure it's set at precisely 1.21 gigawatts (jigawatts?), in answer to an earlier question. Don't settle for a 1.20 gigawatt capacitor -- it'll never get you back to where you want to go.
