The battle over the Democratic presidential nomination turned nasty on Thursday, one day after Hillary Clinton donors subtly threatened to stop the spigots for House Democrats if Speaker Nancy Pelosi insists superdelegates vote the same way as pledged delegates.

I'm speechless.

The dems have been talking about money and special interests vs the voice of the people.

Looks like they're nothing but a bunch of hypocrites.

But you have to admit: it's FUN to watch. :D

It would be fun to watch, if

a) they didn't do it ever presidential election

and

b) we weren't facing McCain as the alternative.

As it is, it's just sadly tedious.

Mrs Clinton should concede, but I suspect Maureen Dowd's latest in the NYT on the topic is correct.

Yup, and in the NY Daily News today, this very revealing statement:

"But the Clinton team stood by its moneymen.

"Sen. Clinton has been vocal in stating that superdelegates should exercise independent judgment about who'd be the best for the party and the country," said spokesman Phil Singer (http://www.nydailynews.com/topics/Phil+Singer).

Notice the word order. First "Party", then "Country".

Gentlemen we may disagree alot, but we are, all of us, in trouble, nothing is changing in political thinking. It continues.

As to "a)":

They don't (slug it out to what appears will be a convention fight, that is).

As to "b)"

Moonbats everywhere couldn't agree more.

Why all the interest in someone who obviously isn't going to get the Dem nod?

There's a fascinating thread about the status of our troops in reference to the two conflicts being fought that hasn't a single response from the right side of the political isle.

The lack of such replies is curious.

Please, enjoy the remainder of your evening! :)

Perhaps like KV1M, you need to leave the country for your health, family happiness and of course to maintain the value of your holdings by spreading it around in numerous different currencies. Then you can eventually move to Bosnia or some other sub-European country and be done with it. I say this since your signature lines are all so flagrantly dark, distressing and hateful of this country and the way it is being run. I'm worried about you.

But, a better way is to just leave the ZED and you will feel all better. Hanging out on the ZED, especially this section makes one think the wheels are coming off the world but in reality, there's only a small handful of idiots (including me) that inhabit this small corner of cyber space. I think we are all miscreants.

Naw, don't want to steal your thunder. You seem to be leaving all the time!

When (note the respect thing here) President Bush and his ilk are gone, you'll never see that particular signature again. Not that I have any faith in any of his successors, but any change would be welcome.

It's rather unkind of you to suggest that I should leave the country. I am a bit disappointed.

No sunshine yellow smiley for you. :(

I don't have any thunder, I'm just a ZED Head like you. However, with everything going on in the political arena, I am really leaning towards "Independent". Alot of my friends are also. It is disheartening when so much seems to be going so wrong and there really is no where to turn, no one to go to, no one willing to take up the mantle of leadership and lead.

It is sad.

Who's President can't matter very much.

Eisenhower played golf for eight years and the country did just fine.

The Daily Kos blew the lid off of this one last night by posting a copy of the letter to the site. The Daily Kos crew basically told Pelosi to tell the high rollers to go pound sand. The beauty of the Internet is that it is has allowed candidates to raise money from millions of small donors instead of being held hostage by the bundlers. If rank and file Republicans would do the same and kick out bundlers such as the Club for Growth, the GOP might actually start listening to its rank and file members.

Everytime Hillary does something like this, it's just another nail in the coffin as far as her campaign goes. Her high-handedness, and my way or the highway attitude is backfiring. People don't like it. She seems to confirm that she is an old-school politician with business as usual on her mind when people want change. She should just deal with it like a grown-up and stop wallowing in denial.

The Voters will decide, and it seems that no matter what she wants, they don't want her. As we say here,

Are you suggesting that I am moving to some backwater of Europe, or that I should?

Why?

Here in Europe I can live in a style that only exists for the top 5% in the US, and I can do it ANYWHERE. Read that word again:

ANYWHERE.

Because I will be a EU citizen in 3 years.

You guys are always saying we progressives should move to some 2nd or 3rd world backwater or war zone, why is that? Is that what you really think the rest of the world is?

Look around your own country, won't be long now before Bosnia is in better shape than you are.

Count on it.

Americans are getting way past fed up of this business as usual crap. I've had the feeling for a long time that both Dems and Reps feel entitled to run the show. Where in the Constitution does it say or even imply that you are excluded from power unless you are one of them? Not to offend any lawyers that might come to the board, but aren't they the real problem? Most of the pols are lawyers. They write the laws in such a complex lawyer-type fashion that you just about have to be one of them to understand the law. This would seem to exclude non-lawyers access up the rungs of power. It looks to me to be the ultimate conflict of interest, sorta like the wolf running the hen house. I've been tired of voting against people for decades. I haven't made up my mind yet, but I may vote Libertarian just for my own conscience.
