The best marriages are those where women marry men who are less attractive than themselves, research has found.
Psychologists who studied newlyweds found men who were better-looking than their wives were more likely to be unhappy and have negative feelings about their marriage.
In couples where the wife is more attractive, both partners tended to be very content.
The research, published in the Journal of Family Psychology, suggests that, in evolutionary terms, women are less choosy about their man's looks as long as he is able to help them reproduce.
Men, however, are programmed to choose a mate who is most likely to pass on their genes and look for youth, health and physical attractiveness.
The tests involved 82 couples married within the previous six months.

There have been other studies that show women are more likely to go with a man that is more likely to be successful (and be able to "provide" for her) even more than ability to reproduce.
Of course when ugly smart men marry not-so-smart good looking women they hope that the children get her looks and his brains. Unfortunately, the opposite is often true. That is they get his looks and her brains.

That's because women are concerned that their man will cheat on them. If he's good looking, even more so than if he's not. Of course "good looking" is subjective.

This man has NEVER cheated on his wife. But then again, I have to sneak up on a glass just get a drink of water. :eek:
P.S. My wife is legally blind in one eye and can't see out the other. She thinks I'm "cute" (imagine that).

A great thread, alot say why do good lookin woman merry men that is rated in society not so good looking. Well i married my man for him, nothin more. He is a great guy any woman would like if they could really see over looks, he is the kiond of man woman woudln't worry about cheatin, jelousy, provider, evrything in one like a angel. Me yeah im good lookin to most but it aint about that or body, i hate men who think im a sex toy, or god knows. I just got a good man he got a good woman nothin to do with anything bad. We are oppisite, he kinda big im a average small woman. I see so mnay treat thier mates ba dover the society crap , i wouldn't even stand for that i be gone, so would he, i believe marriage you do anything to fix it, to support it all the good things. Sorry it's such a long post it just my kinda thread.:)

an UGLY woman wont be tempted as much by other men to cheat on her man..
an UGLY woman will appreciate her man more , because she knows she may not easily find another man to pay any attention to her. Beautiful women have all kinds of men wanting / desiring her...ugly women dont have that advantage.

You're "cut", too? Too much information for me, dude. (Being "cut" is slang for having had a circumcision.)
Most men look distinguished as they age, but me...I look extinguished.

Most woman that aint that pretty to soceity feels that way becouse of the ignorance. Cheating has nothing to do with ones who aint in some eyes pretty. I see what your saying, i believe men should look at woman as one who has inner beauty, i ok alot of men would probably disre me, but idefnintally have a great man, that's where one should focus, therefore would be smart not to cheat. It's a sad world but what can you do.
