During my trip to Dubai I had to go through Saudia and I bought 2 Amstron power supply of 70A.
I notice the light of the voltage and amp meters do freger when I send, I also seen some of the same unit with my friends having the same sign.
Yesterday I went to see the same power supply with one dealer here, He had the same units, and everything is same, just his units having the same indicators for voltage and amp. But without lights at all.
I asked about the fregering of the lights and many told me, not worry about it, this happen when you transmit as the power supply unit takes load from your radio.
Something wrong with this power supply and why some of them having lights for the indicators while other having the same indicators and without light, any one knows the phenomena?
Thank you and 73
Perhaps you mean "flickering"?
If so:
Put a voltmeter on the power supply's output, then place a load on the supply (transmitting with your HF rig, for example). Does the output voltage vary? If so, by how much - and in which direction (sag or boost)?

Salams.
This is Astron supply?
http://www.astroncorp.com/main.shtml
Or, is this Amstron?
http://www.amstron.com/
They do not produce a 70 ampere supply.
Or, perhaps a "knockoff" of one, not uncommon in Asia.
you can look at both websites and see what you can find.
And, you must go to the UAE for Amateur Radio supplies?
Dubai is not a bad place, if Sheikh Maktoum can put up with me, although he has been very angery at times, he can put up with anybody. :)
I love all of my brothers, but prefer to shop in the community.
Thus, in Saudi Arabia, I find what will work.
At the station there, I have a discarded military supply, rewired to provide the 13.5 volts.
Another provides the 28 volts, all the power the station needs for low voltage.

It is Astron RS-70M
Of course they are sold in my country and also in Saudia, the question, with the dealer in Qatar they have no light, just the voltage and amp indictors, the same indicators for the ones I bought, they have light.
You can see one of the 2 I have on my photograph at qrz.com profile, sorry my English is really getting bad, it is Astron y friend
Thank you my friend and 73

Maybe the lamps are fed through the unregulated voltage after the rectifier, wich varies lots more as the regulated output?
Most my PSU's are homebrew ranging from 40 to 80 amps, ihave 12 volt lamps running on an separate 8 volt regelator, wich keeps the lamps independantly fed and without flickering, and 12 volt lamps keep up an very long time on 8 volt.
Nowadays you can just as easy run LED's to light the meters, there are enough quite powerfull LED's in all colours to suit your need.

My Friend,
(Please excuse the ignorance of some here, who do not understand there are other languages besides English in this world.)
One way to check the supplies in question to rule out a malfunction in the regulation (D.C. circuits) would be to monitor the voltage of the supply to determine whether or not it drops significantly when you transmit a full carrier, such as "key-down" CW. The chamge in output voltage should NOT be more than a few tenths of a volt.
It IS possible the wiring to the lamps is somehow at fault, but the functioning of the regulated supply is unaffected.
I hope I understand what you have asked, and that this may be of some help.

Thank you my friend, you been very helpful, I was only wondering why the some of them do have light and some are without light, and if this indicate that the one with light on both the voltage and the amp. meters are orginals of may me a copy made by other manufacturer.
I had no problem sending the 100 Watts out of my radio and sound like there is not problem radio wise at all.
Thank you again my friend and I wish you and wish all of the people here are of the best and 73 from Qatar my friend

My friend, I find it much better to write in English, its the rule that all ham should have good English, never mind some spelling mistake, thats not countable at all, we are not Studying English neither I like to be like William shekspeer or Charless Deken, I know the spelling of the 2 gentlmen names here is wrong, I do apologize for them:)))
Keep in English please so all of our friends here can read what we write, most of the people here having open hearts and they are nice and cool with their answers to our questions and they do assist a lot when we have a problem related to our hobby.
All of the best my friend

Why would you even want to post in Arabic? You and Rashed would probably be the only one to be able to read it anyway:confused:
