How do I find out the manufacturing date ( average ) for some of the current hf rigs that are still for sale ?
Like, how long has the icom 746 been made, the 756, the yeasu 840, the 897, the kenewood 570, ts - 2000, etc ?
Is there a web site that will accurately tell me, or do I need to keep looking through old AES catalongs from the 1990 s ?

Most of the listings at RigPix.com include the manufacturing date (range).
http://www.rigpix.com/yaesu/ft840.htm 1993-19xx
http://www.rigpix.com/icom/ic746.htm Japan, 1998-2002
etc.
Funny reading the eham reviews of the FT950. Most rate it 4 or 5 out of 5 while a few rate it 0 out of 5. I bought one and it is a really nice rig. I had been using my Kenwood 2000 and I love it. This rig is alot different. Hard to believe rigs came that far in 5 years. Some good gear out here these days.
I always loved the 2000 as a CW rig and that's what she'll be used for. The FT950 will be the phone rig. Anyone else out there trying out a new rig?

I was thinking about replacing my 920 with a 950 but was not sure if that was a good move. I have heard mixed reviews on the 950.What do you think would I be just as happy with the 950 as I was with my 920.

I just aint too fond of RIGPIX information...in some cases they prefer to use X instead of a number in the year
example --- 199x that x can cover 10 years .
see what I mean ?
