That actually generates functions.

Well I picked up this cute little Thornton function generator for free...it's actually just a module that's sposta fit into a little cage. After poking around a bit I found out where to apply the DC, and the thing actually sputters out sine, square, and triangle waves. Goes clear up to 50 khz, too, which is pretty good for an el cheapo generator.

Uses an Intesil three function chip which has been discontinued, with no direct replacement available. Now why in tarnation would anyone discontinue a great little multifunction chip like this? I can see a thousand uses for the thing, and it's got great specs.

Another grand mystery. Well at least mine works. I'll be careful not to torch it.

I remember reading about that chip. I think the Intersil company got bought out at one time, so maybe thats why its not made anymore. I need to get something like that because my HP 200CD isn't going to last forever.:D

I've got to start looking around for an old 5089 DTMF generator chip before they are no longer available. It seems like they would make a good two tone audio generator for SSB testing.

A "Function Generator" is that something like a "Wedding Planner"?

Does it do Bar Mitzvahs?:)
