I am not sure if anyone out there has done this...but one day I decided for a project)maybe old news for some..but I have always wanted a custom ringtone for my Cell Phone of my Call letters(KE7GGV)in Morse Code....

Was I excited when it worked...no joke...I know it is crazy but different...and te best part it was really easy fo me..and just for kicks...again this was project for me...

So what I did..I went to my computer and used The Just Learn Morse Code program I installed...then I opened it up...

Clicked on ACTION...then RECORD...THEN A WINDOW opened up called

Morse Code Source...typed in my Call Letters(KE7GGV)..then HIT OK...

AND Another window opens up and it asks you 'SAVE AS"...The file you recorded under(name any)Mine is "Morse code 20 30.wav"..because I set the speed at 20 and The WPM a 30 and The Pitch at 750...(you can adjust it..really easy..THEN

CLICK SAVE AND it will save as a .wav file....The I opened up a program that takes .wav and converts it to .Mp3(I have WAVE PAD)and renamed it ending with .Mp3...the I went to GOOGLE(my Teenager helped me on this)and looked for"Free Ringtones"..I used..the following site...(I am not here to endose them for any reason...but it was FREE...and with time)IT WORKED..

And I registered....real easy..they will guide you through trust me...and what to fill in and what kind of phone you have,etc...WHAMO!

Within a few minutes I had the ringtone...It blew my mind...

Here is the site..it is really free...no joke and no catch...

http://www.phonezoo.com/Welcome.do

And they really mean..what they say" No subscription
No hidden charges"....then hit SIGN UP....again I thought no way...

But if you want help wth the .wav or .Mp3 file..I can do that for you...really...no catch or whatever....

If you like to e mail me..write to

ke7ggv@arrl.net

Subject:Phone...then I know what you are talking about...and I will do it for you a.s.a.p....

Just send your call letters..and what speed...and what WPM and Pitch you like...it is no problem...it is fun and novel...and different...and in .wav or .Mp3 I can convert that and send you the audio file...Subject: Code Audio...and download it when you sign up for the program..it will ask you what file to UPLOAD...oh yes...BTW...I set to record my tone for 20 seconds...(When I played it back through wave pad...via WIAMP...and WAVE PAD records off your sound card...I hit the RECORD BUTTON...(ON WAVEPAD)..set the new file SAMPLE RATE AT: 44100 and in MONO Single..then hit OK then the RECORD CONTROL will automatically start when audio is started...in the advance mode options(WAV PAD)..click it on then a window will appear...

Check ALL 3 Boxes and I have my THRESHOLD set at(-24dB)...

Then HIT OK...it will start recording(automatically)..I had my WINAMP Player up...and played the file for 20 seconds...then stopped..and went back to WAVE PAD and saved the file...(SAVE FILE AS)under a .Mp3 format...

The a window appears" Mp3 ENCODER Settings...I have mine at a CBR(Constant Bitrate at 96 kbps)or any you want to set it...under MONO then OK..then it will convert...and it will be saved...to me it was worth it....

I will be glad to help...THX for your time...DE KE7GGV...73

Take care

Also try http://www.planetofnoise.com/midi/morse2mid.php . It makes a file you can use your phone browser to load and make it a ringtone.

I just turned on the FT-101, switched to CW, VOX off, set my phone to record a memo, and sent my callsign. I also sent a few others and added them as individual ringtones for various people.

I've done the same thing in the past. I used a program called Aducity to convert the wav to mp3, then a site called myxertones (www.myxertones.com) to create the ringtone and send it to my phone.

Myxertones allows you to upload a full mp3 song, crop it down to the section you want and send it to your phone as a ring tone.

A morse code ring tone that makes sense. This is in contrast to the folks who use a S.O.S. ringtone.

Make a morse ringtone for each name in the contacts list, then set each contact to the appropriate custom ringtone.

I can't do this, I have Verizon. Buy THEIR ringtones or else. Unless someone has worked around that . . .

They have, quite some time ago. You can send ringtones via pix messages. There are sites that will do this for you, and even free programs you can download. I haven't done it for a long time, but it works. The last program I used successfully was called "ToneThis". But again, it's been a long time.

For my LG phone on Verizon service I had to download the .mid file to my computer and then attach it to an e-mail addressed to
<10-digit phone number>@vzwpix.com

It came to my phone as a pix message ($0.25 I think) and then I was able to save it as a ringtone.

Works FB.
