Here I am, riding along, returning from the little village store, when I see a red pickup that sure looks like my neighbor's, waiting for me to pass. I don't see him often. He is very much a loner, but I do recall we said "Hi" to each other at the post office about two years ago.

So I thought I'd be friendly and wave, neighborly-like. As I raised my hand, I spotted something unusual. A CB antenna on the roof of his truck.

Well, my neighbor doesn't have a CB. So I lowered my hand and kept on past him.

As I passed, I just couldn't help it. I have invented the ultimate put-down, the zenith (or abyss) of snide remarks. I have outdone myself, created a whole new concept for future dictionaries. It was automatic. I didn't plan it. I didn't stop and try to dream it up. It just happened, kinda like that proverbial stuff that the bumper stickers keep tellins "happens." I even spoke it out loud.

"Nope, that isn't my neighbor. He's too dumb to be a CBer."

Thank God I live where I do.

I don't know them well, but I suspect all my neigbors are fairly smart......

Then again, I haven't got a "CBer' within a quarter mile of me....

how about when you have a family reunion, the kinfolks who have the cb unit in all their vehicles, in the house, every where ?

and if you go visit them, you have to compete to get their attention, because the CB rig aint never turned down, over in the living room or in the master bedroom ??

Gawd, I am glad I don't have family into it like that!

BTW, I love your sig. It reminds me of pranks I pulled on one of the new guys. For some reason they never taught him in school that you should always leave at least five extra feet of cable when you install something. And the cable must be looped and wire-tied in perfect five-inch circles. If they're not perfectly round, five inch circles, the audio rolls off too low and there's a lot of high-end loss :D

I had one guy going with that one for an entire day, as he was assigned running audio cables for a new install of some sort. Until someone else came along and asked him WTH he was doing. I am such a baaad girl. But it's not nearly as bad as some of the things that were done to me when I started in this business...

Thats a good one! I'll have remember it.

But on that note, you would be amazed at how many hours rookie firefighters have spent looking for the sloan valve. :p
