They can't seem to lose and are #1 in the Western Conference and #3 in the NBA, closing in tighter with each new win.

They're fun to watch again.

Who'll take the Championship this year?

Steve,
Its been over 20+ years since I was able to say "How about those Celtics !"
Its amazing how well the Garnett/Pierce/Allen trio clicked in Bean-town.
A Celtics/Laker's Final's would be classic,with of course Boston winning in 7:D

What do you think?!

::I used to really appreciate "Showtime" in the mid to late 80's when it was Magic Johnson vs. Larry Bird, two college rivals from Michigan and Indiana now in the big leagues and both so talented it seemed impossible that two guys with that much talent could ever be on the court at the same time.

I watched them play at the Garden in Boston and also at the Forum in L.A., several times on both coasts, since I live in L.A. but used to live in Boston.

I watched the Garden come down with a wrecking ball back in '99 I guess it was...same time as the big dig was going on and it seemed the world was coming to an end. The Fleet Center is fine, but I had real memories at the Garden and used to dream about parquet floors.

The Staples Center here in L.A. is a far better, nicer, bigger place than the Great Western Forum ever was...but I have real memories there, too. I'm glad the Forum is still there, and it's still used for various shows, rodeos, the circus and other stuff even though the Lakers will never play there again.

If the playoffs come down to Celtics v. Lakers I almost wouldn't care who won, I'd be there, at least at the L.A. games.

I'm no sports fanatic, but I do enjoy it when the home team is winning. GO, LAKERS!!! :)

What's a Laker?
Apparently, someone from Minnesota ["Land of 1,000 Lakes"], from whence the team originally came.

Makes as much sense as the "Jazz" being in Utah, I guess... :p

A Laker is a member of a pro basketball team now ranked #1 in the NBA Western Conference and destined to have a high entry into the playoffs.

OTOH, a Laker Girl is one of their cheerleaders and they're worth attending games for.

Paula Abdul was a Laker Girl.

I HAD been watching the lakers since Paula was a laker girl (Hmmmm Paula!!!!) But not any more. Soon as they get rid of ball-hog kobie, then I'll start watching em again. The era of Magic and Kareem is long gone :(

::Ball hog Kobe has become assist-maker Kobe for the past couple of weeks, playing real team ball now that he has a real team to work with. Acquiring Pau Gasal (only a couple of weeks ago) has given the team such a boost...I think they've only lost one game so far since Gasal joining the Lakers. Luke Walton and Lamar Odom are playing better, and Gasal frees up Kobe to be more of a play maker than a ball hogger. They're really doing great at #1 in the Conference.

I liked the "show time" era also. Remember Kareem and also Kurt Rambis of the same era are both assistant coaches for the current Laker team.
