I don't know much about Obama other than he is a very good orator, but I am familiar with Ayers. I was in college when all this was going on. Ayers was nothing more than an anarchist and terrorist.
I had forgotten all about him until I looked at a story in Modern Maturity a few years ago where he talked about how great it was to try to blow up the Pentagon and presumably kill people. He said that is was great time in his life.
I could not believe that Modern Maturity even ran the story. Ayers was on the lunatic fringe back then and it seems that he has not changed. How he avoided serious prosecution and jail time will forever remain a mystery.
I have a difficult time believing that Barack Obama, a man running for president and seems to motivate people could be somehow hooked up with a person like Ayers.
This campaign keeps getting stranger as time goes on.

He avoided a lifetime of prison because the feds blew his case. They used illegal wiretaps and illegal surveillence, and the charges were dismissed.
Ayres deserves to spend the rest of his life in jail. I am liking Obama even less, I can't believe he'd let someone like Ayres get near him.

Obama once attended a meeting held at Ayers place that Obama didn't arrange and had to attend -- it was, after all, the meeting at which his predecessor in the IL senate announced she was stepping down to run for the US Congress and endorsing Obama as her replacement.
That's not "friends with", and claims that it is are merely desperate attempts to sling mud.
On the other hand, the government did, indeed blow its handling of the Ayers case, and he remains a free man. In the United States we have the right to associate with anyone as long as neither are convicted felons, and a presumption of innocence until proven guilty.
Obama was eight years old when the Weather Underground was active. You're going to need more than just his once attending a meeting at a former WU member's house to demonstrate that he shares any of the beliefs of those people.
Oh yeah, that's right, Obama has already denounced violence as a means to an end.

One thing for sure, Ms Klinton will not be calling Obama out on this one. I seem to recall that Bill Klinton let a couple of the weatherman terrorists out of prison. Not to mention some Puerto Rican terrorists.
