28.085 AM sure is active this morning.
I hear no less than about 4 - 6 folks using the frequency, and not a FCC issued callsign in the bunch.
2 are aparently base stations, doing chit - chat like 2 folks would do on a regular cb channel or a 2 meter repeater.
2 apparently are truck drivers ( weaker signals ) discussing where to unload their merchandise on their trailers.
2 - 3 others fading in and out for a half hour or more in amongst the other 4.
DX this morning is from the East coast, which could be nearly any where...none of the mentiond folks said a town name or even a USA state .
I would imagine that from the N E part of this great nation, that some one could hear a few select southen conversations going on, too close to be dx from my area, so I suppose it all evens out.

Thats a big 10-4.
I'll be sure to let the Bandit and the Snowman know the net is on.
Time to get that Coors Beer from Texarkana to Atlanta!
Sounds like it's time to call CQ on RTTY. Fire up the amp if you have one.

Everyone was probably working the DX on other frequencies. Real DX is more fun to me than listening to CBers. But you seem to like to listen to Cbers from what you posted on previous threads about listening to them on ch19. Hey, thats fine, to each his own. Have fun! I didn't hear any DX. I was on 10 working CW with a buddy of mine. I wish I had heard some DX.

That was good! Thanks for the laugh. Speaking of that reminds me of yesterday I went to the bathroom and heard my code key beeping. I walked back in the room and my Chihuahua was in my chair and was pawing the code key. Thank God I didn't have it on transmit. Maybe he was sending in a an order for kibnnos and dits!

So did you try to talk to any hams on 10M or just listen to CBers?
I ran across some phone activity on 28.053 this afternoon, sounded like a net conducted in Spanish with brief transmissions and roger beeps. With the hope that the band had opened up, I parked on 28.050 and called QRL? a few times then called CQ but heard no response. When I gave up and tuned back up the band, the phone activity was gone.

I'd have stayed home and worked DX today, but then KC2ESD and company would accuse me of being a lazy liberal. :)

In terms of REAL Ham radio, not playing COP to ham radio, I worked C21DL, Nauru on 17m CW.
As long as they leave 17 and 15 alone...
:p
ALAS!
Some of us poor SOB's need to work on at least a semi-daily basis, thereby taking us out of the picture for daytime openings on ten meters!
So sad, too bad, I miss more openings that way!

You act like this is some kind of a new revelation or something. This crap (bottom end of ten meters) has been going on for DECADES. 28 085 apparantly is some sort of CB gathering channel. There are lots of those clowns there.
It's just that we don't hear them too often. Due to bottom of the cycle and lack of E skip and frankly most folks don't give a RIP.
A while back, uh in the 70s, a so called "major effort" at cleaning it all out went to zip. So what do you expect to happen? Hams don't give a rip anymore. Why should they? Most of them are CBers too. And they ain't gonna dump on their good buddies.

Some of work nights and are home during the day. Thats why police and firefighters are available after 5pm :)
In my part of the world you hear Mexican CBers on 10m. A few blasts of CW at 800 watts and they scatter like so many "cucarachas" :)

CB radio operators are not the only ones who believe in the "more power" concept inspired by Tim "the tool man" Taylor.
In fact, I'd venture to say there are more guys out there who QRO than you think. Some guys aren't S9 +60 into the repeater all the time because they are running 5W too....
I know a few guys who run full power all the time. Thats why I laugh when people make it out to be a CB concept. I've seen more of it since I became a ham 15 years ago than I saw with CB radio guys. Course, high schoolers couldn't afford $500 kickers, but still.
