Ok, Dems lets hear how your Obama walks on water and isn't wrong.

WASHINGTON - The Pentagon on Friday tried to cast doubt on an account of military equipment shortages mentioned by Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama, whose campaign team stood by the story.

In a debate with rival Hillary Clinton on Thursday evening, Obama said he had heard from an Army captain who served in Afghanistan and whose unit did not have enough ammunition or vehicles.

Obama said it was easier for the troops to capture weapons from Taliban militants than it was "to get properly equipped by our current commander in chief," President Bush.

"You fight with the army you have". -- Rumsfeld.

Plenty of guys coming back from Iraq and Afghanistan have reported shortages that were widly acknowledged in the early days of the war effort still exist.

This stems, in part, from the Bush administration's unwillingness to properly budget, and so always ending up asking for last minute supplemental funding, leading to late, expensive equipment deliveries.

The pentagon is just trying to CYA their failure to provide proper logistics. Still.

Throughout the history of armies, soldiers and sailors have dealt with shortages of one sort or another. In my experience, units are given an operational budget. They are expected to work within this budget. Unit commanders cannot send their units into an action for which they are not equipped to perform. this is nothing new. It cannot be blamed an the Bush administration any more than it could be blamed on any administration the served during an armed conflict.. its just a fact of life under arms..

Yes and no.

Shortages are a fact of life. But compare GW-I to GW-II and you'll see the difference that preparation makes.

From the start the Bush administration has underfunded and underequipped the people it has put on the ground. This began with Rumsfeld's wildly exagerated estimates of how 'token' resistence would be and his unwillingness to support his field commanders when they asked for it.

The US Government is spending close to 270 Million dollars a day on this "war".

We need to get out and fast. At this point I really don't care if its viewed as running away.

How much are we going to end up spending for a temporary false sense of security?

In this country, we have people who do not have enough food. In this country, we have children in schools that are woefully short on basic supplies. In this country, our government can't pull its collective heads out into the open air long enough to deal with a disaster they've known was going to happen for days.

Why should it be of any surprise to you that the government has a problem supplying its own troops? And it's not just the Iraq war. I hate to be the cynic, but the Pentagon, the president and all the the people who are supposed to assist the president all handled the war so badly that I'm surprised the Iraq war hasn't be much much worse. It's a sad tale of poor reasoning, poor planning and poor implementation. And when the story is outed, a mass attempt at CYA.

In the 'for what its worth' department-NBC news said it had talked to the officer that Obama mentioned and for the most part the story was correct. They said the biggest error Obama made was that the ammo shortage was during training and not when the troops were in Afganistan.

Ok, Dems lets hear how your Obama walks on water and isn't wrong.

Why? Your simplistic view of the world allows no other opinion but your own, and you've totally ignored the ongoing damage done this country by the dick 'n boosh crime syndicate, who you faithfully support.

Replying to you in an effort to offer a differing opinion is the ultimate waste of time.

It would be more productive, and far less painful, to converse with a cinder block.

I note that you have failed to "scoop" the newest story of a repubicant congress critter's brush with the law. Any explanation for this?
