I like this HT a lot. I've only had it for about a week though now.

The only things I really don't like is the belt-clip. It seems like it's going to break for sure. It's not as smooth to remove as on my VX-170. I don't know why they removed the ramps on the swivel piece for the 7R. I know it's not just mine because both my father and I bought these (2) units at the same time and both have the same type of clip and the same "SNAP!" when you rotate it 180 degrees to disengage the lock.

Also, the buttons are somewhat difficult to push. You have to push down hard.

Otherwise I'm very happy with it. It was worth the money in my opinion. It would have been nice had they included the barometric pressure sensor as standard though. That just seemed cruel to have it as an add-on.

Cruel is Right! I love my VX-7R Black. I have had mine for awhile. Think I remember that CLICK you speek of. It will go away after some use and If you think the buttons are hard to push now, dont buy the leather cover for it. This Yeasu VX-7R is tough and the hard buttons are so no buttons are pushed while you are active. Im Always looking for some New infomation about the raido let me know how it works for you.
Does any one Know of a group for Hand Helds Hams?

I just got my VX-7RB yesterday and I too fear the mighty "click." I'm seriously considering putting 2 little dobs of epoxy next to the key to smooth it out a bit. We shall see though!

Great little HT though! Got the Diamond SRH320A (http://www.eham.net/reviews/detail/4298) as well.

I got a VX-7R over a month ago and love it. Yes the belt clip dose make a loud snap but so far I haven't had a problem and I carry mine just about every day.

Side note: Do your self a favor and buy a programing cable for it you can find USB ones on ebay and download the VX-7 Commander (http://www.kc8unj.com/). It will save you on programing is a snap on the computer. Shore saves on the fingers trying to type every thing in on the radio.
