I am looking for a program to run Newsline. I download Newsline to the computer.
Then I want to be able to call my phone, the modem/computer answer and play Newsline. I have found one program, but it does much more and is costly. Of course I want a freebie.
Anyone already doing this?

This is for Linux, but I assume there's a variation for windows, or you could modify the source code -

<sourceforge.net/projects/lintad/>

It's a freebie (both free as in beer and free as in speech - you can get the source code). You'd probably have to save the download of newsline in your received calls directory, and it would probably answer all calls received, if you can live with that.

A lot of open Source apps have been ported to Win$. Not sure if this is conceptually what you're looking for. Google is your friend.

For a conventional phone line, you'd probably need a "voice modem" along with the appropriate software. Voice modems are relatively cheap but you need to be sure you know what you're getting (most modems are not voice-capable).

If you subscribe to a VoIP gateway service (like BroadVoice or VoicePulse), you could do it easily with Asterisk (www.asterisk.org) -- no modem required.
