windows 2000

Hi all
I have recently had to reinstall windows 2000 on my pc, I now find I cannot get
more than 16 colors on the display settings, so most of the programes are
very short of colors, I have tried to solve this but it just stays the same, I have been into the Bios but I do not understand it.

Any Ideas anyone!!

Try finding out what type of graphic card you have.
Then look on the internet for the updated drivers for said card .

You need to find the drivers for that card .

When you reinstalled your copy of windows, it copied fresh files over existing ones--and all the existing ones were erased. If there is any of the existing ones left (the driver for your video card, for example) it may still be there. Go to your control panel, and into the 'install new hardware' wizard. You may be able to get the driver reinstalled that way--if its still on the hard disk. The other way is going to the 'system' icon and then into the 'device manager'. When the list of system devices is shown, click on the 'display adapter' icon to see if the device is listed there. If its plug and play, (it should be) you'll see the make and lodel of the card there.

If your computer has the display driver integrated on the motherboard, (the cord to the monitor connects directly to the motherboard and not to a plug-in card), the driver should be on the original disk that came with your computer.

If all else fails, go to the 'device manager' and then the 'display adapter' and click on 'update driver'. When the next screen comes up, you have the option of going to the internet to search for the device driver. This method can take some time, but it may work if you don't know the particulars of your computer.
