Votes for Sale

Kennedy's just made a major political move -- putting their backing behind Obama.

Could it be that they wanted to ensure they had access to the person in the power seat? Lets face it, Obama talks a good talk but he will be green as hell and will need all the help he can get if elected. This move guarantees a Kennedy will have Obama's ear.

On the flip side, Bill and Hilliary has been in the White House, and Hilliary is not likely to take advise (or political pressure) from the likes of Kennedy.

What's next in the Obama camp --- announcing that Opra will be VP?

Kind of hard to say for sure this far out that could be turned into the new symbol of the Republican party. But as you well know only time will tell so you ready to go back to a life we lead some forty years back. I figure I still have a pretty good handle on how to live without todays technology. Sure I bet I would have withdrawal symptoms to but I lived that way before I figure I can do it again if required...

But are the Kennedys (except to the media glitteratti) even relevant today? Camelot crumbled into a pile of rubble long ago.

Not true. Camelot did not crumble, though the last of Joe Kennedy's scions did stumble, and unforgivably. Every family needs a black sheep, and Tedward is among the most caliginous in a dark flock. Caroline did not develop the kind of arrogance that marks some of the family -- cousin Kathleen among the most bitten.

I actually agree with Caroline's estimate that there is, indeed, something reminscent of her father in Obama's manner, charm and presence. Like JFK, he is young (but a few years older than Kennedy when he ran), and he projects a vitality that is infectious.

While there is surely a lot about Obama that I do not know, I must set that against the backdrop of all that I do know about Billary.

I march to the polls with eyes wide open.

That was kind of random.

Wishful thinking, perhaps?

This was BS in 2004, and it's BS now.

Get some new material, OV.

What the heck are you talking about 6d?

The fact is it's 2008, Kennedy is sucking up to Obama, so is McCaskel (in our state). These folks don't do things like this unless there is a reason -- or more to the point, they beneift.

Trying to give you the benefit of the doubt OM, not following..........

Can't get elected president, yes, but the district he represents keeps reelecting him right on in to Congress.

So, yeah, I guess its kinda true, but dude does kind of keep hanging on in some fashion. Which is surprising considering some of his bad habits...

Teddy doesn't represent a district. He is senator for an entire state.

Yes -- now we're on the same page. (My bad for adding district)

And he is taking the action, backing a specific canidate, to earn credit that can be cashed in after the elections are complete to help members of his state.

Claire McCaskel is also a Senator......... same situation.

But this is not unusual. Politicians endorse others from their party all the time, nothing new here, no different than has been done for centuries.

Some politicians have endorsed Hillary, McCain, Romney, Obama, etc. The Governor of FL just endorsed McCain a few days ago.

Teddy and the Kennedys are lightning rods. When they do something, the whole country seems to notice. I say "who cares", TK means nothing to me. Sometimes he is right, but mostly he is wrong. His endorsements only mean something to people that listen to what he says.

On the other hand, if Hillary wins, is TK cutting off his access and power? This could be a risky move for him, the Clinton's have a long and vengeful memory.

Joe

Though I loathe Tedward deeply, I must be honest enough to aver that he probably has more popularity and sheer staying power than either of the Clintons. He risked little by standing with his niece in that respect, and I believe he may have added some standing in the Black community (though he is not now deficient there, either).

Nope, Joe's boys and gals are no longer relavent. Mainly because they stayed Democrats.

If JFK would have survived his Presidency and most everything else remained the same, They would all be Republicans today.

Think back to JFK economic plans.....Now think back to Ronald Reagans trickle down economics.....sound familiar?

Again think back to "Ask not what your country can do for you, Ask what you can do for your country".

Does this not sound more like the Republicans than the Demoncrats today? Honestly now, think about it.

IMHO the Democrats went the way of Socialism about the time NOW took it over, just after the 68 convention.

That is nonsense. Had JFK and RFK not been shot down in the streets, the Democratic Party might have evolved along different patterns, but to assert that either of them would have abandoned their beliefs is ludicrous.

If you bothered to learn anything about the organization of the Democratic Party, you would know that what they are trying to do is to wrestle control of the party away from Al From and the Clinton-controlled DLC.
