So, how'd everybody like it?

I was so inspired I nodded off towards the end.:)

I was smart enough not to listen. And even more so not to bother with the opposition's rejoinder.

I turned the channel.
Same old.... same old.....

How many times did he say "UH" this time?

I recall him doing some kind of speech from the oval office a few years ago and my wife noted that quickly......

Actually it was better than I expected.

I got a kick out of old George reading Congress the riot act about adding the pork barrel add ons to bills not being voted on -- think he was 100% on target on that one.

One thing that P/O'd me is this party line crap -- nothing shows America or the world how broken things are than seeing the Democrats sit on their butts and the Republicans standing and cheering for something. At least both parties stood for supporting the troops (now funding to get them what they need is a different topic)

Pictures of Obama went well, except for when they cut to his face when Bush was telling of the progress being made in Iraq -- guess the young Congressman didn't like getting lectured to.

Did anyone see any good picture of Hilliary? Man, she looked so full of hate and spite, she would have been better off calling in sick. (At least looking at her would have made me sick -- thankfully they didn't spend too much time on her mug)

Whether this will be a lame duck session will really be determined what Congress does in the next year. We can only hope they can find some common ground to do something good -- else we need to kick everyones rears out of Congress and get a fresh batch of education idiots..........

Did anyone notice the amount of people yawning?

Even Laura Bush yawned

:D.

I already knew what state we were in and who put us there.
I didn't need to watch.

Did I miss something last night? I was watching the History channel.

They have another documentary about the Germans in WWII on again last night?

I swear, they should change the name of that channel....

I went back downstairs and worked 30&80m PSK for a bit more....

I think it was summed up as "more tax cuts for the rich", "you dirty Democrats" and "stay in Iraq forever".

Wow. How long has it been since you've watched it? Can't remember the last "Hitler" show I saw on that channel.

The only reason I asked is because, to some people, watching the History Channel showing one of those episodes or watching the State of the Union would be one and the same.

Except one would be mostly in black and white.......

I personally didn't watch either. Flew a Learjet from Seattle WA to Stockton CA on Flight Simulator instead. Probably accomplished more by doing so than either channel did last night :)

Didn't get the sarcasm....but...:p:D OK, I'm dense today. Yep, a good real-time, IFR FS flight can be a wonderful thing. Oh...this is about some TV show I missed last night. Sorry for the subject hijacking, or maybe not.

Yeah but did you land that sucker OK? I always have trouble lining up but usually smooth it out just before touch down.

It was so bad, even Dick Cheney looked like he was bored.

I watched it on Fox and they had a few shots where some people were falling asleep!

I usually cheat and let the autopilot bring 'er in.

K2WH

How did or do you do that? I use the autopilot for turning and cruising, but on approach, I switch to manual control. Are you saying you can land on autopilot also?

K2WH

Absolutely! Use the approach function of the AP. If you're flying IFR, ATC will set you up perfectly to engage the approach function. At that point, it'll take you either all the way down, or almost all the way down, depending on what aircraft you're flying. Just don't forget to dis-engage both the AP and the auto-throttle if you want to stop on the runway! :)

But there's a wrinkle. The AP seems to "remember" what the control surfaces were doing when engaged, and when you turn it off, it'll revert to that, e.g., if you climbing out of an airport, it'll try to climb when you turn it off. I've learned to turn it off at altitude and use manual control to get the plane straight and leve, then, re-engage the AP. (It's obvious I'm not a "real" pilot.)

BTW...I sometimes play a game. I see how drunk I can be and still land with the AP.

In Ronald Reagan's last year in office, he traveled to Moscow for a summit and signed arms deals. In Bill Clinton's final year, he negotiated to the very end before failing to get a Mideast peace deal thanks to Yasser Arafat's duplicity.

We cite our most recent two-term Presidents to show that, even with only a year left, the Bush Presidency is far from over. With his low approval rating and a Democratic Congress, Mr. Bush's final State of the Union last night reflected his limited ability to shape legislation. But even a lame duck President has more power to influence events than anyone else on the planet...

Actually I like the executive order he just signed -- makes perfect sense. Can you imagine how much trash, not to mention how many things that could violate our rights, gets passed by attaching things to the notes.

Frankly (as much as I hate to say it) he made the right call on this one.

Time for some of those Pork Barrel Politions to become accounable for their actions.

Heck, after seven years I'm glad he did and didn't

1. Did learn how to say Nuclear

2. Didn't push the little red button marked Launch (pronounced when Bush Reads it "Lunch" --- yes boys and girls, reading skills are important"

.....to the Hitler channel. Easily recognized by the big "H" in the lower right corner of your screen. (borrowed from Gallagher) ;)

I agree. Every time I tune to that "channel", it's Panzer this, Luftwaffe that. Jeez, did nothing else happen in our history?

Hey, I knew about landing via AP. JFK Jr. tried that but forgot to use the simulator.
