We all remember Ike's famous warning about the military-industrial complex. Seems like we have forgotten that.
But...Ike also said, "never elect an oil man to the presidency".
Well, we've elected three oil men. (Perhaps one was selected instead of elected). All three have placed the USA in a war which with cursory examining tells us we ignored both warnings.

Ike made those warnings out of wisdom, not prescience.
Too bad the American people never really listened...
