Considering either a Cushcraft MA5B or a Butternut HF5B antenna, looking for
opinions/ratings from owners.operators of both antennas. I have searched the archieves of this site and found dated info. Also searched EHAM but looking for more recent reviews

Thanks in advance

I've used mine about 7 months. I am very pleased. It seems to perform fine. But understand on some bands it is merely a rotatable dipole with no gain,
If you know that going in you won't be overly disappointed. Putting it in place on my mast I was grateful for it's weight being under 30#'s. Being on a standard 100 x 60 city lot I appreciate the small footprint. It's better than my G5RV on it's design frequencies. Is it the best out there?...probably not...but it has certainly worked well for me so far. If you get one be careful about assembly and triple check you work. It is EASY to get the dang traps on backwards. Also consider using an engraving tool to mark your traps. That way when the decals are toast you'll know what's what. YMMV
