Note: Renamed this section today - I like the new name better -fred

All politics are dirty. There are usually things that you don't want to know, or, kind of like sausage being made. Whether you're left, right, or center, your opinions DO belong here. Tell us what you really think!

We have started this forum to bleed political traffic away from the other forums, and the intent is to engage in serious political debate. No joking around, please, however political cartoons (as images) are OK.

Welcome to all. Note that the usual QRZ rules of conduct apply.

73,

-fred

That's it!
I will never eat sausage and read the Drudge Report during lunch again!
Now I feel all dirty inside.

It'll clear the ragchew forum from all this. I for one will never come back here... CIAO! :D

Wow! New software and political threads with their own home all in one weekend. Admin staff has certainly been busy with what so far appears to be two very nice changes.

Not all politics are dirty and the fact that you declare it as such tells me you really don’t understand political science and government. Campaigning and elections is a very old process to select leaders without chaos and war. It’s a fact you have people with poor character involved and the American process to elect a leader is raucous, expensive and bruising, but it is not dirty and in fact quite the opposite transparent and regulated.

Now that the political junkies have their own sandbox to play in maybe civility will be restored to the Rag Chew forum.

Very cool, where do the gold stars come from under the rating column?

Still a good idea might assist people who want to discuss lighter topics and not look at Ron Paul topics (Pro or Con) Alright no more political topics in the old section will be created by me. That I will reserve for this new section sorry if I missed the new recommended rule till now.

TU for the name change.

Now, to work on the signature follies. I no longer have a signature and the system tells me that I may not use more than two characters, etc.

But for these few quirks (most of whom have callsigns ;) ), the new board is an appreciated improvement. Time heals all. If you're young enough.

[B]GREAT IDEA...keep this traffic in it's own sewer, eh?

I noticed this little gem above: "QRZ = .0001 % of the voting public"....

BUT - we are COMMUNICATORS! And, that fact should make our "effect" a great multiplier from just raw numbers, eh? We all like multipliers during contests, right?

READ UP, THINK UP, and then VOTE...those that don't get what they deserve.

I think they start with 5 and drop one each time you post.

Senior member, does it have the same meaning as seasoned citizen, i.e. old, or been on the ZED for a time, some might say, too long??

Nice job Fred, I am continually amazed that you and the staff of QRZ provide as much as you do, even a forum like this that is completely unrelated to amateur radio. I don't know that I would have the patience and tolerance for some of the garbage that has happened over the last few years that I've been around. I have to say that it provides a good outlet for many people and is an interesting insight on a subsection of a section of the population. The amateur community as a whole is not much compared to the population but it does have quite a variety of people in it which makes it an interesting subsection of the population at large. Besides, imagine if some of these guys had nowhere to vent some these things! I don't want to know what would happen.
Either way thanks, keep up the good work on what is definitely the most well known and informative amateur radio resource around.

Hello.

The political system of the US, by its very nature, is Dirty.
A slush fund here, a few hundred PAC's there, major contributors everywhere, that is the nature of the business, and business it is.
The Media has counted on revenues from politics for years.
The Republicans cut newspapers from the budget, and all across the land, papers had to cut staff.
The Republicans, who normally get very bad press from the papers, decided to "go where they are wanted".
This has ushered in a new era of "pocketbook media", where the media writes what the "sponsors" say, or else.
And, yes, there are laws, minor things like one can not kill the other side, unless the other side happens to be something like Native Americans, or Arabs, that type of thing is fine.
So, I can not "kill you and feed you to the pigs", but just about anything else goes.
