I was checking out some 30m PSK-31 signals around 10.140 KHz when AA3ED started a PACKET transmission calling WD8DHF and KA6IQA right on top of the PSK signal I was monitoring.

Don't the PACKET guys have to follow the same courtesy as others (well, except for some Italian and Spanish guys) and check if the frequency is clear before transmitting ?

There is a good 10 KHz above 10140 where the PACKET people can transmit so why do they have to be on 10140 where the PSK people are ??

uh-oh...

I assume we'll be hearing from the anti-winlink folk...

From my experience on 30m, it seems the .140 PSK guys do get pushed around quite a bit.

Most people on packet are courteous, you just have to look for them. Usually VHF and UHF.

Are the Italians troublesome? I have only ever heard them on SSB and CW...

Sorry I missed you on 30M today Gary.
I have never noticed a packet station that low in the auto sub-band before, but the e-mailers do fire up there quite a bit and wipe everything out.
30M has been in sorry shape for DX lately. I hope it gets better soon.
