View Full Version : JPEG hosting
I was wanting to post jpeg pictures on QRZ but I need someplace on the web to host the photos. I have tried flickr, Nicon, and Picasa accounts but they only allow sharing within their communities. I tried to make a web page with my ISP but I can't get the Nvu program to publish. My ISP only provides instructions for publishing with Microsoft "front page". I'm looking for a cheap way to do this.

I use this one often:
www.imageshack.us (http://www.imageshack.us)
It is free and you can decide to get an account to organize your photos or not... they will just host them without an account. I have several dozens of jpegs hosted there and they are still there years later.
Alternately there is Photobucket. They even provide links in various formats including BBC and HTML so they can be pasted in forums like this one or on a Web page.

You should be able to use your ISP's server without having to create a web page. If your ISP allows ftp access into your webspace (many do) just upload the image you want to use to your webspace. Then, post a link to it wherever you want it to be displayed.

Flickr allows sharing outside that community. When you are viewing a picture, click the ALL SIZES link. You can then be viewing the original picture and below it, number 2 is grab the photo's URL. Copy that and paste it between IMG tags here. This is one of my Flickr photos.

I also use Photobucket as well as have my own website.

I use TinyPic.com (http://www.tinypic.com) for quickly (and freely) uploading photos, screenshots, etc. to post in forums or send to friends. It's painless, and unlike Photobucket, you don't have to join. :) It's certainly no replacement for a full-blown photo sharing site like Flickr, but for quick throwaway things that you just need to quickly share on a forum, nothing beats TinyPic.

I was wondering that too. Sorta looks like a van that was chopped down. But I wonder too. Looks like it could be a fun project.
Personally, I'm saving my penny's to get a beatup ranger or S-10 and do a Locust (2 seater roadster) project.

It's a dodge Deora clone. The famous show truck by the Alexander Brothers.
The first version had a lift-up front, while the final version had the more awe-inspiring swing door.

This truck started out as a window van.

Here's where the windshield came from:

Much coolness. :) I've never heard of the Deora, actually, but I guess I should have been able to spot the sides of an old Dodge van in there, and that C-pillar is the wrong angle for a Corvair 95...

More pics of the Deora clone?
On-topic content: Yeah, I'd like to look into one of those photo hosting sites m'self, particularly since Sony ImageStation recently shut down. I have some space with my AOL accounts, of course, but not enough for any real gallery.
