He was probably just bored, anyone that has ever been to an awards ceremony can tell you that they are generally people kissing each other's butts and droning on and on and on. It's still funny though.

Ok, so I like Clinton about as much as I like the thought of having a Root Canal with no anesthesia but I just can't fault the guy on this one. Even leaving out the traveling and campaign stops he has been hitting it is hard to stay awake at these functions. It has nothing to do with interest in the over all subject of the event but these things often bring out some of the most boring speakers of our time.

Basically I am saying I would likely have been nodding off right next to him so can't really hold it against the man.

Sorry, but Bill nodding off doesn't hold a candle to the elder Prez Bush throwing up in Japan's Prime Minister(?)'s lap. (The Japanese coined a new word for that event, too: Bushimi.)

I get bored very easily, so I usually have about a 10 to 15-minute attention span after the beginning of a meeting before my eyelids begin to droop; five minutes after that and I'm asleep. So, one day my boss got the best of me: after I nodded off in our monthly meeting (with all the directors of the company present), he motioned everybody to leave the room as silently as they could--all the while holding back their laughter while my boss put a tented paper sign in front me with the words, "You're fired!" on it. So, that's what I awoke to about 20 minutes later. http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

If you honestly think that there is a book you need to read:

"The Age of Abundance - how the culture wars made us more libertarian" by Brink Lindsey.

If nothing else, at least read the first few pages introduction. The gist is this - utopia has been realized not by communism but by capitalism and people who still think in terms of liberal and conservative are outdated.

It's a very eyeopening read.

So, did you really get fired or was it just a good opportunity to mess with you? Funny story though.

As I mentioned earlier in this thread, and also as one other poster mentioned, anyone that has been to an awards ceremony can tell you that they are generally boring. OK, there are exceptions like The Academy Awards or something like that, but most are just plain BORING. Probably not a good PR move on the part of the former president but not really surprising as I'm sure he's not the first and won't be the last.

The Japanese call some of their food delicacies "sushi".

We rednecks call it "bait". No wonder Bush threw up.

My wife is from California. She can eat sushi several times a week.

The only raw fish I eat is tuna, with Miracle Whip, onions, and relish. On toast.

Exactly, it was on ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN, PBS, in most of the major newspapers both online and off, and all the rest of the supposed "liberal" media.

You're not that stupid. On CBS' web site, the most popular stories viewed is always on the front page.

Grow up and admit you opened your mouth and inserted your big foot.

EDIT: OK, I admit it. I called CBS, and said "Jonothan on QRZ said you guys failed to cover the Clinton nodding off story, and that you're being biased". They instructed me to make up a URL, send it to them so they could quickly sneak it in on their front page.

I'm busted.

You've got to understand. The ultra left wing uber liberal hippies and commies at CBS, NBC, And ABC were probably too busy painting anti-war posters to be bothered with the news stories. Then the ultra liberal king...Rupert Murdoch showed up with some really strong weed and he got everyone totally stoned out. Then leftwing commie Rush Limbaugh showed up with some suggestions that they make up signs for a anti-capitalis/Pro Chavezt party and protest. Then on top of it Barbara Streisand and Jane Fonda probably showed up to hang out.Between all the left wing liberal stuff going on at ABC, NBC and CBS the only sites that posted the stories were decent law abiding middle of the road moderate sites like newsbusters and americanstinker.

That’s right, Bill Clinton hillbilly and political genius. At one point, not long ago, people considered Bill so brilliant at campaigning that some worried that he would outdo his wife so badly as to discredit her. That analysis obviously no longer applies; instead, the worry is how badly he will damage her through his own gaffes.
