True Patriots don't hide from the truth. As far as Iraqis:
As of Sept. 2006:
Views of US-led Forces in Iraq
Seven in ten Iraqis want US-led forces to commit to withdraw within a year. An overwhelming majority believes that the US military presence in Iraq is provoking more conflict than it is preventing. More broadly, most feel the US is having a predominantly negative influence in Iraq and have little or no confidence in the US military. If the US made a commitment to withdraw, a majority believes that this would strengthen the Iraqi government. Majorities believe that the withdrawal of US troops would lead to a reduction in the amount of inter-ethnic violence and improvement in the day-to-day security of Iraqis. A modest majority, including a large majority of Shia, now believes that in the near future Iraqi security forces will be strong enough to deal with their security challenges without foreign forces.
US HELP NOT WANTED BY IRAQIS. (http://www.worldpublicopinion.org/pipa/pdf/sep06/Iraq_Sep06_rpt.pdf)
OCCUPATION:
1. The act or process of holding or possessing a place.
2. The state of being held or possessed.
3. Invasion, conquest, and control of a nation or territory by foreign armed forces.
4. The military government exercising control over an occupied nation or territory.
If you insist.

Danno certainly does a good job of proving there are a lot of alternate reality news sites out there. I haven't tabulated all his sources but the Conservative alternate reality seems well represented. At best we could safely say there is more then one page for every political reality that exist and the Liberal media is not any more represented then many other political slants. :D

That's because you have this confused with a study. It's not a study. It's a poll. It doesn't need peer review. As far as 'whining conclusions like the NY Times,' just because you disagree, doesn't make them equal to something else you disagree with. They can't all slant the news all the time like Fox.
As to how they conducted the poll, it is there in black and white. A bit after the part where it says:
-A WorldPublicOpinion.org POLL- ;)

I switched on O'Reilly a while back and he was talking to some... individual who was going on about why Elvis did a couple of decent movies before the army and the silly ones after the army. It was this individual contention that the army turned Elvis into a drug zombie and that his career was ruined by that. The trouble is that Elvis made a ton of money doing concerts, new song releases, dopey movies, and performing in Las Vegas. So was it an example of him being ruined by drugs by the army or was he tremendously successful and the heck with doing quality movies. So he got old and fat that isn't that strange many get old and fat. Elvis made money right up to the time of his death and his family and associates got richer after he died.
Boy that O'Reilly can sure find ridiculous stuff to put on his show, including lots of blurred pictures of scantily clad young women. Oh well if it keeps em watching who's to argue with success :D

All you have to do is watch FAUX (FOX) News for 10 minutes and you will see favoritism towards who they think should receive recognition. We all know that people of Israel control our media but why would they want someone like Obama to be our president? Perhaps it is a plan just to get their Republican McCain in office so they can have him invade Iran next after another 9/11?

I don't know if this has been posted, I wasn't about to wade through the ten thousand XR links to extremist propaganda nonsense. I just thought this was an interesting study about the so-called liberal media. As it turns out the media really isn't liberal or conservative, it's all about money, power, control, and in many cases downright propaganda.
The Myth of the Liberal Media: The Propaganda Model of News:
Edward Herman and Noam Chomsky demolish one of the central tenets of our political culture, the idea of the "liberal media." Instead, utilizing a systematic model based on massive empirical research, they reveal the manner in which the news media are so subordinated to corporate and conservative interests that their function can only be described as that of "elite propaganda."
...The business of media is overwhelming the business of democracy, as a narrowing range of private media conglomerates shape a widening range of public space and discourse. From our schools to our streets, from politics and policy-making to mainstream media coverage of both, a reductive market logic has increased the demand for informed democratic discussion, deliberation and debate. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KYlyb1Bx9Ic)
Of course the LIB media wants it to go away, but thanks to the new media, the racist minister has been exposed.

Amusing.
I am kinda disappointed in this thread...I had hoped to see a cogent discussion about that the hackneyed term Liberal Media, and instead got a never-ending series of links to the same ol' same ol'...
After 30+ years in the "liberal" media, some personal observations...
Some journalists (real news-gatherers, not political hand-maidens) may have personal ideologies that could be identified as liberal, but well-trained journalists will eschew personal ideology in favor of neutrality and balance. I have to wonder, though, if that which opponents label as "liberalism" isn't (in its Clark Kent secret identity) really the application of critical thinking. Maybe, just maybe, those journalists decried as "liberal" are just well educated and trained to question that which some believe should be unquestionable.
Too many journalists--especially in TV--are lazy. Me, too-ism is rampant. The rapid news cycle and Hollywood tawdriness have replaced shoe leather journalism, and one report is echoed again and again by the "me,too's". And, the advent of so-called news organizations whose job is really to convey the views of a single party has bred a whole class of talking-points parrots who are then echoed by the nominally neutral agencies all afraid of not getting their "me, too" in.
Most "Liberal News Media" are, in fact, owned by large corporations whose sole responsibility is to return money to investors. They are motivated primarily by profits, not politics. Those who point with glee at the NY Times having financial woes need to realize that virtually all newspapers are having problems. The cost of newsprint is up, advertising is down, and while the papers are still cranking out wheelbarrows full of cash...growth is what matters to Wall Street, and newspapers ain't exactly growth industries.
Further, with concentration of ownership of media (gee, thanks FCC!), more and more electronic media are only presenting overtly conservative (or what passes for conservative in these times) viewpoints; in my town if you tune across the radio dial you will hear the usual claque of conserv-o-talkers...Limbaugh, Hannity, et al, but you won't hear a note of liberalism from this branch of the so-called Liberal Media.
Speaking of the NY Times, although self-styled conservatives tend to waggle their Montgomery Burnsian bony fingers at the paper and decry its supposed liberalism, I'll bet few of the far-right crowd are aware that the Times has been under constant criticism by the political left...or at least since our Beloved Leader took office (particularly post-9/11). If the NY Times is so GD liberal, why--the question goes--did they so often soft-pedal the run-up to the disastrous war in Iraq and many of W's other follies?
The problem, of course, is that if we're looking for evidence of bias or incompetence or whatever...all we need to do is look to find just what we need to bolster our preconceived opinions. That the news business is liberal has been repeated so many times in the past 30 years, it is now accepted as a truism. And despite careful academic studies of the instances of alleged bias in journalism that reveal that the "Liberal Media" really isn't, those who believe what they believe will continue to believe despite any evidence to the contrary.
It's sort of like horoscopes: you can point out that the relative angular positions of light from long-dead stars as viewed thousands of years ago by a bunch of Earth-bound shepherds cannot possibly affect our personalities or our destinies, and yet people continue to believe. Okay, you're stubborn because you're a "Taurus", and the news media is filled with liberals.
It's all true, you know?

I definitely see bias towards the left when viewing certain local TV stations' news. For instance, this scenario (and this happens all over the country):
- young (minority of your choice) home intruder killed by elderly home owner @ 3AM in the morning.
Left-wing-biased broadcast: screen flashes to large, screaming woman, "He murder my baby! My baby ain't done nothin'! Why he murder my baby! My baby gone! He ain't done nothin'!" Then the "journalist" procedes to lambast gun ownership and how gun laws could have prevented this death.
Another more "conservative" TV station, or a radio station, would expand on the news, interviewing the 70-something white male occupant/owner of the home, who lives alone. Flash to the sheriff's deputy/LEO and the interview reveals that the robber-turned-corpse has had a history of robberies, drug abuse and assaults on elderly individuals, who, up to now, have been easy targets for his drug money. In these cases, no charges are filed against the home owner.
Racial bias on my part? No, reality...it happens daily here in my city.
This is why many of us shun the "liberal" left-wing media, because of their emotional twisting of what they call news. Many of us just want the facts. Truth always exposes...why do so many in the media wish to suppress the truth?
Another case that just happened last night (3/20/08): 27-year-old female breaks into a home, beats an 82-year-old man over the head and tries to take his money...the elderly man defended himself with a shotgun.
The radio host, an elderly gentleman himself, stated strongly that EVERY elderly person ought to have a shotgun.
Dunno if he shot the female, or just held her for the police....

I know a coupel of other things that could have probably prevented both the death and the home instrusion as well as lots of other home intrusions and deaths. How about ENDING DRUG PROHIBITION. After damned near 100 years of drug prohibition we still haven't learned that IT DOES NOT WORK, that IT DOES NOT STOP DRUGS, and that all it does it CREATE CRIME of many different varieties.
But will you ever hear the so called "liberal media" talking about ending or changing the drug laws ?No. Is it because they are too liberal to talk about the waste that is called prohibition.
What about the fact that the left wing media would barely mention the anti war activism surrounding the Iraq war. Instead they dressed the media up to look like everyone was 100% for the Iraq invasion.
For every example you can give to describe this "left wing media" there are examples indicating the exact opposite.

Maybe the homeowner was advised not to talk to the press. Maybe the sherrif didn't have much to say. Maybe if we had a sensible drug policy in the country along with less poverty crap like this wouldn't happen day in and day out.

The American Rifleman gleans news from all over the country, from newspapers (one media reported to be controlled by the left) and TV/radio transcripts( another media reported to be controlled by the left). They are reporting things otherwise suppressed by the propogandist/drama-driven media.
What's the beef in quoting the media? What's y'alls angle at defamation of the media? Just because they don't report what YOU want to hear, it isn't true? Is it only the spin you want that matters?
As far as drugs are concerned, ANYTHING that alters the mind of an individual causes aberrant behavior, and that behavior is the problem...not guns or any other weapons...human behavior must be trated accordingly. Oh, yes, there ARE laws against aberrant human behavior, isn't there?

More bad CON news:
WorldNetDaily's Downward Spiral:
It started off last month by proclaiming that the truth was its defense in the then-upcoming trial for a libel lawsuit filed against it by Clark Jones, a supporter of Al Gore, whom WND attacked in a series of articles in 2000. WND asserted that nothing less than "the future of investigative journalism in the United States" was at stake -- even though it admitted in court papers that it didn't fact-check the articles before publishing them. A little more than a week later, however, WND settled the lawsuit as quietly as it could, admitting what it published about Jones was false and that "sources named in the publications have stated under oath that statements attributed to them in the articles were either not made by them, were misquoted by the authors, were misconstrued, or the statements were taken out of context."
Then, as if demonstrating that it learned nothing from having to shell out a lawsuit settlement because it failed to do simple fact-checking, WND promoted a man's salacious claims about Barack Obama -- going so far as to enlist its PR firm in the effort -- but giving no indication that it made any effort whatsoever to verify anything the man said. When the man failed a polygraph test, WND tried to quietly drop that as well.
Now, WND continues its blithe indifference to core journalistic principles... (http://conwebwatch.tripod.com/stories/2008/wndhomeschool.html)
(And I at least posted a portion of the article so that people don't have to click on some stupid page with a zillion pop ups and ads! Give it a try XR, that is if you really want people to read that trash that you post links to.)

Do you really lack the ability to say what you think that you can't even post a little bit of what the article in question is about? I'm not saying that as a personal attack, but if you ever expect to convince anyone of your viewpoint then we need to hear it from you and not some partisan link. It's really gotten to the point where most people here don't even take your links seriously, if you're really passionate about what you believe then tell us yourself.

Since when do large rockets and the manufacturing capabilities to produce large quantities of poisonous gas not fall into the category of WMD? Since when do the capabilities to manufacture biological weapons and the proven finding of substances like anthrax in Iraq not fall into the category of WMD? Why would we suspect Iraq on nuclear components with only the satellite video of IAEA inspectors being held at the front gates of suspect facilities while trucks hastily leave via the back gates of the same facilities? Granted no large stockpiles of these weapons was found other than the rockets for delivery.
The responsibility for the existence of the Baath Party and Sadaam Hussein as it's leader was indeed from actions taken by John F. Kennedy while President of the U.S. His rule in Iraq and history of war & invasion of neighboring states was clear, his mehtods of ruling in Iraq and the atrocities he committed were clear. Also do not forget that the invasion of Iraq by U.S. forces could have easily been averted by the offer of Bush to allow Hussein and his family to leave Iraq. Most seem to have forgotten this fact completely!? The invasion was a small matter and the routing of the Baathists was accomplished with comparative ease in the scope of overall warfare involved.
The current fighting in Iraq is only the result of internal forces attempting to grab power and external forces like al Qaeda & Hezbollah. The war at this point is a civil war. There are also far more foreign fighters involved than just U.S. forces, surrounding states provide many insurgents in Iraq.
A quick withdrawal of U.S. forces would result in even more fighting. The bulk of the Iraqi population only wish for peace and a normal life, few can argue this point. There seems no easy road to U.S. withdrawal from Iraq.

In the last presidential election, leftist special-interest groups and socialist billionaires like George Soros waged war with an unprecedented tsunami of negative TV attacks on the Republican incumbent, suggesting that he was a draft dodger who knowingly lied us into war...
...A truly fair and balanced media might foresee a really tough election contest — on both sides. But instead, we have a partisan chorus, whining in four-part harmony. They're not waiting for Hillary Clinton to discover her Titanic has sunk. They are getting their general-election assault on the "Republican attack machine" under way...
...But it would be crazy for anyone trying to paint himself as a straight shooter to discuss political negativity and ignore so shamelessly the ferocious forces on the left.

The Clinton campaign has said before that Fox treats them more fairly than MSNBC, but prominent surrogate Governor Ed Rendell heaped the strongest praise yet on the Murdoch-owned network.
"I think during this entire primary coverage, starting in Iowa and up to the present -- FOX has done the fairest job, and remained the most objective of all the cable networks. You hate both of our candidates. No, I’m only kidding. But you actually have done a very balanced job of reporting the news, and some of the other stations are just caught up with Senator Obama, who is a great guy, but Senator Obama can do no wrong, and Senator Clinton can do no right.”

We've had the spectacle of Barack Obama embarrassed by the comments of his former pastor, Rev. Jeremiah Wright. Last week, Obama resigned his membership in the Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago, after Wright praised the Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan, and repeated the looney conspiracy theory that the US government bio-engineered the AIDS virus to cleanse the country of African Americans.
John McCain finally had to reject the endorsement of right-wing Texas evangelist John Hagee. Months ago, they had appeared at a grinning photo op where McCain accepted Hagee's blessing. It was already known that amongst other outrageous statements, Hagee had said New Orleans "invited God's wrath" and deserved Hurricane Katrina. The last straw fell when an audiotape surfaced of Hagee saying God sent Adolph Hitler to help Jews reach the promised land.
But McCain's problem with preachers has been much less publicised than Obama's. I wonder why? You'd think the despised "liberal media" would be trumpeting McCain's woes in every broadcast, instead of piling on Obama.
That's because the "liberal media" are not only despised but non-existent.

Could it be because McCain wasn't a member of Hagy's church, nor did he attend for 20 years, or collaborate or attribute a recent autobiographical book title (The Audicity of Hope) to his Pastor? Could it be that Hagy wasn't McCain's close spiritual advisor, friend, and the pastor that baptized all his children (unlike Barrry O)?
Golly, I wonder why Obama isn't getin' it... the liberal media would never investigate this mess, or that of Pflager... it would hurt their candidate! If they did, it would be much after-the-fact, superficial, and buried (as presented by the MSM to-date). Why would they wish to expose their lefty-looney candidate's radicalism -- through his radical left personal and political associations? I really wonder why?
You are indescribably dense, if you believe the MSM is fair and balanced. Read the following poll regarding this subject to find you're apart of a very small minority. Voters Give Media Failing Grades in Objectivity for Election 2008
Sunday, June 08, 2008
Just 17% of voters nationwide believe that most reporters try to offer unbiased coverage of election campaigns. A Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey found that four times as many—68%--believe most reporters try to help the candidate that they want to win.
The perception that reporters are advocates rather than observers is held by 82% of Republicans, 56% of Democrats, and 69% of voters not affiliated with either major party. The skepticism about reporters cuts across income, racial, gender, and age barriers.
Ideologically, political liberals give the least pessimistic assessment of reporters, but even 50% of those on the political left see bias. Thirty-three percent (33%) of liberals believe most reporters try to be objective. Moderates, by a 65% to 17% margin, see reporters as advocates, not scribes. Among political conservatives, only 7% see reporters as objective while 83% believe they are biased.
Given these results, it’s not surprising that 76% of voters believe the media has too much power and influence over elections. Just 3% believe the Fourth Estate has too little influence while 16% say the balance is about right.
Eighty-seven percent (87%) of Republicans believe the media has too much influence along with 80% of unaffiliated voters and 65% of Democrats.
Voters have little doubt as to who is benefitting from the media coverage this year—Barack Obama. Fifty-four percent (54%) say Obama has gotten the best coverage so far. Twenty-two percent (22%) say McCain has received the most favorable coverage while 14% say that Hillary got the best treatment.
At the other extreme, 43% say Clinton received the worst treatment from the media. Twenty-seven percent (27%) say the media was roughest on McCain and only 15% thought the media coverage was most unfair to Obama.

Maybe because it contains no verifiable information? No direct quotes attributal to Mr. Bush with a verifiable name as the source? Revelations like those that can be garnered from The National Enquirer? Perhaps U.S. news agencies who are generally bound by a far higher set of standards than those required in England could not verify any of the information in a proper way?

The media in the U.S. is bound by higher standards than those in Europe. If or when legal issues might arise from a story, ya better have something to show 'em. In matters like this one, ya better have a lot to show 'em. ;)
It is perfectly legal here to put your own spin on any story. But ya better not change any verifiable facts and report it. :) That gets ugly fast!
