Also check the advertisers at "Tom's Hardware Guide," but don't get lost there, as there's lots of information to be found.

I'll check out that one also thanks for the link. The reason why I am looking for these computer hardware websites is because next month I'll be upgrading my ram sticks to two gigs and I was looking at either G-Skill or OCZ I heard both good comments on both manufacturers.

Here's what I have as for a desktop gaming computer:
Motherboard - MSI - MS-7125 NEO4 Platnuim Socket 939
Processor: AMD 64 3500 2.2ghz
Operating System - Windows XP Home Edition
Video Card: Nvidia 6800gt
Memory: 2 - 512mb Pc3200 ddr400mhz (Super Talent)
Sound Card: Stock
Operating System - Windows Xp Home Edition
Memory Speed - 400mhz
Processor - AMD Athlon 64 3500 2.2 ghz
Operating System - Windows Xp Home Edition

I bought this computer for $850 at Computer Ressiance the owner that first owned this computer claims he spent out $3,200 for the computer case, motherboard, processor, video card and the custom multi colored led fans plus the two blue lights at the top and bottom of the case.

Since they are blue, and blue light has a shorter wavelength, obviously the processor will run at a higher frequency, and thus be faster. It's elememtary fizzicks.

CYA:

You don't tell us the operating system, memory speed, or processor "speed" rating, (or whatever AMD calls the numbers now,) so it's difficult to understand much about your machine...

Just as a reference, (and prices will vary) 1 GB PC3200 modules are selling at Fry's for around $40.00

Also check Best Buy and Circuit City locally if they have stores near you. Often they have sales that rival the "mail order" or "online" vendor prices.

2 GB should make XP work much better.

(Sorry, I didn't see you mentioned the memory speed originally.)
Should be a respectable system for say, the next year... before it's hopelessly obsolete. http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/laugh.gif

Probably last until XP support is discontinued, which is a few years away. But two years seems to be the "lifetime" of computers these days, before both hardware and OS can no longer be updated! (Example: TRY to find an AGP 1x or 2x video card for an early Athlon or P4. The newest AGP cards won't work (no longer electrically compatible) and even AGP is almost obsolete because of PCI Express.)

Good luck and enjoy the upgrade.
