Quote[/b] ]Mitt Romney captured his first win of the Republican presidential race on Saturday, prevailing in Wyoming caucuses for a much-needed boost to his candidacy three days before the New Hampshire primary.

''This is just the beginning,'' he declared.

The former Massachusetts governor won eight delegates, former Tennessee Sen. Fred Thompson got three and California Rep. Duncan Hunter won one...

Hunter, Thompson and Ron Paul all stopped by the state -- visits they probably wouldn't have made except for this year's early conventions -- and candidates have sent Wyoming's GOP voters a flood of campaign mail. Huckabee, the former Arkansas governor, did not visit Wyoming and drew little support. Arizona Sen. John McCain and former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani also did not visit and received little support.

Wyoming is not Pennsylvania. Hell, it's not even Kansas, Toto. Ever see the acronym BFD?

Even if they adapted the original Constitutional formula of counting "three-fifths" of the bison stumbling around and added them to the population, it would still not come up to a New Hampshire -- which ain't saying a whole lot.

Cold comfort for the Latter Day Saint. Still less for Place and Show.

There's more prairie dogs there than bison nowadays.

I think the sands of Rudy's "fifteen minutes" are running out.

I expect the Republikon nominee to be John McCain.

I think the evangelicals just can't resist Huckabee. The allure of someone who will renounce abortion and evolution is so delicious that they're smacking their lips just thinking about it.

An interesting scenario will be what happens in the black Baptist churches if it's an Obama/Huckabee race.

So you're figuring this will be the year everybody finally got tired enough of this guy to elect him and shut him up?

I'm still hoping for some kind of late entry. Maybe somebody of human descent that can walk and chew gum at the same time. So far the closest to that ability we have is Clinton who can walk and chew a$$ at the same time. Still not close enough.

You've confused WY with UT.

Oh wait, the Mormons aren't a majority, there, either.

Very accurate memories, Albert. That 'hole' and I are nearly the same age, and it ate my neighborhood as I was growing up.

Are you confused?!?!
The populations of the states of WY and UT, both of which I've traveled in in the last twelve months, and both of which I have family in, and neither of which has a majority Mormon population, at the moment.

The population of Utah varies between 45% to 55% Mormon, but of late has been trending away from a Mormon majority, although they are the largest minority in the state.

Wyoming, while a neighbor state geographically, is very much different than Utah, and has a much smaller percentage of Mormons. There is no majority religion in Wyoming, as in most states, but more than 30% of Wyoming residents self identified as "no religion" in the most recent study (2000.)

You really need to broaden your horizons. It seems that a lot of your sources are, as you say, "confused", on a lot of topics.

Far too many people remember John's early stance and support for Comprehensive Immigration Reform bill, as well as his Campaign Finance Reform crud.

He is NOT a Republican, but more of a RINO. He should run as an Independent... he won't the the ® nomination.

Sorry, but I have some bad news for you. None of the Republikons are Republicans any longer. They have all adopted the spend-thrift habits of their rivals.

Give me a "Blue Dog" Democrat any day of the week. Damn shame none of them is running.
