Kid's Day

Well I just checked and Kid's day is coming up on Jan. 6

This was the contest that got me into Amateur radio 5 years ago when I was either 7 or 8 years old.

I will be participating in the contest by myself unless my brother or sister decide to join me(unlikely)

When I first looked at the rules I was very disappointed that the contest does not take place on CW.

Then again not many kid's know CW and if there was CW the op's would be the ones operating the whole time and the kids would probably lose interest.

Who else is going to be operating?

It is in the same time frame as the RTTY round-up.

I'll be on with my two girls, ages 9 and 11. I don't think my 3 year old son (my only hope) gets it yet (but he's the only one who likes to turn the knobs).

Last Kids Day I took my 2 1/2 yr daughter out for a few hrs. in the mobile. The 1st station she worked was a Boeing 777 at 36,000 feet over Nevada.. She was very happy.. She is looking forward to todays action also..

Was a good day contacting the kids. Seemed like there were quite a few on 20 meters.

The kids sounded like they were having a lot of fun.

Don't forget to send them a QSL card to keep the experience a memorable one
