The annual Heavy Metal Rally is TONIGHT as soon as the
bands come in. Sponsored by Electric Radio magazine,
the event brings out the Tall Ships for a cruise on
the airwaves.
Top award seekers must use AM transmitters that weigh
at least 250 pounds (Heavy Metal !) or put out 250
watts. Everyone else gets to hear and work these
stations for a glorious night on the radio.
75/80 meters and 160 meters at the usual gathering
points, right into Sunday sunup.
This year we have about 30 Special Event AM stations
running 1x1 call signs.
AND, around midnight eastern, some international AM
may happen too.
Please see:
1x1 AM Stations (http://amfone.net/Amforum/index.php?topic=13110.0)
Around Midnight Eastern (0500GMT), maybe spool
down to 3705kc where these folks will be listening to
try to work as many HMR stations as they can:
Max MØGHQ,
Mervyn GW8TBG,
John F6AKQ,
Fortunato 9H1ES,
Henk PE1MPH,
Jan PA3HCO.
We will certainly give it a go, 73 and
Happy New Year, Max MØGHQ
