stations outside Canada send RS(T) and a

Thanks. That's a real cool web site too. Added it to my links.

RAC's not just on CW, it's also on phone, same weekend.
Same rules.
All you have to send that is "unique" is a serial number, starting with 1.

It's a work all the Canadians you possibly can contest.
I don't know the exchange though
if you don't know the exchange or anything, don't get into the contest because yes, it does make people mad and I would be one of those people.

I don't know about that. I listened to an op call CQ for quite a long time without a reply. I'm sure he would have been quite happy to explain the exchange to someone for the points.
Also, it was an everybody works everybody contest, not just work the Canadians contest.

Multipliers are worthless without points. Every Q counts.

I heard several ops very politely explain the exchange to the people responding to their CQ. Every contester has always been happy to tell me the exhange.
However, I always listen for several exchanges before I jump into a contest. If I can't figure it out, I'll ask.
But now with the Internet, you can easily find the contest exchanges on many websites, such as the ARRL site and Contesting.com. That makes it a whole lot easier.
As for the RAC contest, you got more points for QSOs with Canadian stations. It was 10 points for VE stations (except for VE0). Other stations + VE0s were only worth 2 points. And if you got a RAC-member station, it was 20 points. The pileup on VY1RAC was huge.

This was a very mild contest, I don't think anyone would have gotten mad.
I didn't hear as much contesting as I did elmering.
I heard lots of stations in the contests taking a few to explain the rules as well as good practices for contesting.
A break from hard-core contesting is good for the soul. http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

But multipliers count for the most points

Duncan,
I think you were talking about phone, CW is where the contesting is.
Especially at the bottom of the sunspot cycle.
I just can't wait for the naqp in January.

No no, I was talking both.
CW and phone are THE modes, I wouldn't say one out does the other. Conditions only affect communications to a point, from that point on sun spots don't mean anything, it's the operator.
