As far as I know, it's pretty simple to make LCD 3D glasses that can be computer controlled. It would also seem easy to generate stereo images with today's graphics cards. What's the hang-up in developing games using real stereo vision?

I've seen stereo graphics systems, but they've been big bucks. But with economies of scale, etc., that doesn't have to be.

Even with the economies of scale involved in cellphones, WVGA lcds are still in the low hundreds of bucks range, which means that a cheap 3d visor would cost 300+ to build.

The graphics cards that can drive such a creature are out there, but the market for gamers just isn't hot enough yet.
