I recently, after probably over a decade of not contacting LandAir.COM to obtain pricing, I decided to give them another call to see if their pricing ever got realistic.

Nope. It was still excessively over priced. As an example, I was quoted a "clean" TS-120" for over $500 and an old FT-707 for over $400. COme on. That isn't realistic. That is plain greed.

I posted a rate of 4 out of 5 about LandAir on EHam only to get a bizarre phone call at my home from one of LandAir's cronies, whining to me that "Art" was upset with his 4 rating and that woudl I consider changing it and why did I give him that rating, etc.

First of all, I don't appreciate or find it appropriate to call me at my home to harass me over some posting on EHam or anywhere else. You don't like the posting, live with it. I find someone charging those prices to be absurd and greedy. Period. It offends me. Lucky I didn't leave a 2 rating.

I can appreciate the fact that if someone is stupid enough to pay it, he will get that price. That doesn't justify the greed to me.

And to top that off, I am not the only one that experienced that with this guy. I also received two other e-mails regarding the service performed, the pricing, from two other hams. So I am not an isolated case. With one of the other hams, he too was contacted and berated.

Bottom line. If you want to pay thru the nose for old gear that isn't collectible, antique, etc. then by all means, buy it from LandAir.COM and watch you money go up in smoke with overly inflated pricing.

Won't ever be calling this guy again and I know a good number of locals heard about this too and won't be doing any future business with this greedy individual.

I've always wondered if we've gone from the "customer is always right" to "get the customer to say we treated them right."

Seems to be that everyone is treated with less than good customer service, and nothing is done till someone threatens to the point that maybe a few thousand people will find out.

The climate has definetely changed lately. Its almost a "we have it, we know you need it, come and get it" kind of attitude. They figure someone will buy from them, so they don't worry about it.

I guess.

Gee...ANOTHER 'happy'(?) LandAir customer?

I have one word of advice for the proprietor of that establishment:

Atone for your sins while you still can, fella... 'tis a mighty hot placed you're headed for.

Or, is it because he wouldn't buy that 950 from you that you love so much Chris? http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

I thought everybody loves their FT-950. How is yours EH?

It was great, right up until the day I sold it to get something that did more. But if you want more you have to pay more. Oh my god, I guess it is such a sin to want something better than what you all ready have, and it's even a greater sin to be able to afford it huh, huh?

It was great when I bought it. The new wore off, I found it's limits, and the honeymoon ended. It doesn't take everyone months of didling around with something to find it's limits, irregardless of what some poor hapless gomer claims. What can I say? But unlike a lot of other cheap whiney b********, I didn't piss and moan about it, or throw rocks at Yaesu because I thought they misrepresented the radio as a contest rig. I do my best to give most things (people included) the "benefit of the doubt". Unless whatever it is just screams out "I'm not worthy, don't waste your time". Even when some do, sometimes I'll still take the risk and look closer for myself. But, if it's not what I thought it was, I move on. But I don't belly-ache about my bad decisions. No one twisted my arm.

Very simple homey:

If you don't like it, don't try it/buy it.

If you did and aren't happy with it, get rid of the damn thing!

BUT DON'T BITCH ABOUT IT!!!!

Sorry buckwheat, but I could care less about some smelly junk, whatever sold by some obese retard and some glorious ham flea market somewhere, or some faceless goober/weirdo on the internet. I don't live in the past either most of the time. And when I buy something/and or sell it, I don't bitch about the results of my decisions that I made for myself.

And how about the firmware upgrade for the 950? Any word yet?:)
